Q4 2011 CLBA Newsletter
Dear CLBA Members,
It goes without saying that 2011 was a challenging yet prosperous year for many people in our
industry. I have never been as proud to be part of a group of business professionals that have
led the industry through the recent difficult times and will be the people that define the new
reality for 2012 and beyond. CLBA members around the city have again demonstrated
themselves of caring for their community while striving to make Austin one of the best cities to
live, and do business in, in the world. Furthermore, I am honored and privileged to have the
opportunity to have served the association as your president.
Our last few programs of the year were very successful and we are ending the year on great
note with Senator Kirk Watson.
Watson Mark Dotzour is always a pleasure to hear and we had a great
turn out in our co-support of the IREM Economic Forecast this year. We are looking forward to
the Christmas Party on December 8th and closing out the year in style at Perry’s Steakhouse.
So as we look forward, we have even more exciting plans for CLBA in 2012 and beyond. After
years of adding additional events for our members all around Austin, in 2012 we will focus on
taking all these events to the next level. For over thirty years, CLBA has always been known for
our superior industry education and speakers. In the future you can expect that the CLBA events
you attend will present you with information in new ways and challenge you to be part of shaping
the future for our industry.

The Commercial Leasing Broker’s Association is an organization set
up to unite those who are actively involved in the leasing of office,
retail, or industrial buildings in order to foster knowledge, education,
integrity and quality workmanship in the leasing of commercial space.
To advance the civic development of the community by effectively
exerting a beneficial influence upon the commercial and investment
real estate field and related business interests. To promote the
indoctrination, training and education of those engaged in the leasing
of office, retail or industrial space in order to foster experienced and
competent leasing brokers while cultivating friendship and fellowship
among its members.

RECENT DEALS
PPP (Center for Public Policy Priorities) has leased
7,010 square feet in Midtown Commons. Troy Holme and
Katie Ekstrom from CBRE represented the Landlord and Bill
Gump and John Gump with HPI represented the Tenant.
Spare Foot has leased 5,600 square feet in the Perry Brooks

We are proud to announce CLBA’s charity for 2012 is
SAMMY'S HOUSE.
At the 26th Annual CLBA Golf Tournament we
raised $30,000

House Over the last 3
years we have raised over $70,000 for Sammy’s
House.
Sammy’s House is a non-profit organization that
provides services for children who are medically fragile
and/or developmentally delayed. Sammy’s House
operates a child development center, a respite care

CLBA, through the golf tournament, can make a huge
difference for this charity.
CLBA’s donations have been raised through the
participation of individuals who play in the golf
tournament along with event sponsor. The director of
Sammy's House mentioned that because we hit our
2011 charitable contribution goal, we have helped her
stay open for 1/2 a year!
On behalf of the CLBA Board of Directors, we
