WELCOME TO
YOUR SUMMER
Hello from Camp! Whether you are new to camp or a seasoned camper, we hope to see
your children at camp this summer! Every summer, we put together an exciting, fun, enriching
and safe experience for our campers!
Sure, summer is a time to enjoy the warm weather, hang out with friends, swim and play outside, but at camp, the possibilities are endless. Camp is a place for children to make friends, try new things, explore, actively use their imagination
and to be themselves. Add in the support and encouragement of positive adult role
models, and all these ingredients come together to boost confidence, self-esteem,
social skills and overall emotional intelligence. At camp you are able to create YOUR
ideal summer experience. Our wide variety of programs truly provides something for
everyone. Camp information will be available in the Y by March. We have some new
elements to our camps this summer including surf camp, video production as well as
Partnering with the National
a wide range of sports, arts and specialty camps.

big brothers big sisters
Ages 7–18 Every child can benefit from having a dedicated
friend outside of the family, someone who is there for that
child and spends time with him or her because they want to.
The SOUTH SHORE YMCA has partnered with Big Brothers
Big Sisters in Boston to offer a traditional
one-to-one mentoring program for youths
in the Quincy area.
Ages 18+ Being a “Big” is one of the
most enjoyable and rewarding things you’ll
ever do. As a Big, you get to be a kid
again for a couple of hours every
couple of weeks and in the process
change a kid’s perspective on life.
To find a “Big” for your child, or for
more information about becoming
a Big Brother or Big Sister, please
contact Phil at ext. 4712.

PARTNERSHIP PROGRAM
FOR PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES
The Partnership Program is a recreational, non-clinical program designed
specifically for persons with disabilities who are interested in a structured exercise program.
Our program serves individuals that need specialized, adaptive exercise equipment and/or one-on-one assistance.
Volunteer training partners will assist participants with workouts designed to improve or maintain physical ability
to stay active in sports, recreation, or activities of daily living. A volunteer will be provided based on
availability, however participants are encouraged to provide their own volunteer.
*NOTE: This program is recreational in nature and is not to be considered rehabilitation.
How to join the Partnership Program:
Interested participants or volunteers should call our Partnership
Program Director to set up an appointment for a brief interview. After touring our facility, you will then:
•
Complete a Partnership Program application
•
Fill out a Medical History Questionnaire
•
Provide medical clearance by a physician
•
Submit an exercise prescription by a physical or
occupational therapist (if applicable).
•
Youth participants are welcome. See Health & Well-being
guidelines for eligibility.
Is Financial Assistance available?
If you are unable to afford the cost of a membership or program,
financial assistance is available; please pick up an application at
the Welcome Desk. The money used to fund this program is
raised each year by volunteers through our Annual Campaign.
When, where and how will you train?
A trainer will provide one-on-one instruction in our Health &
Well Being Center for initial program design and training on
the equipment. Your regular workout schedule will depend
on you and your volunteer.
In addition to our full lines of strength and cardio equipment,
we also offer the following adaptive exercise equipment:
