Business After Hours Guidelines
What Is Business After Hours?
BUSINESS AFTER HOURS (BAH) is an event designed to provide a relaxed, informal get-together of Chamber
business members after regular business hours. In addition to meeting and sharing ideas with prospective
clients, members, and customers, this event offers a great opportunity for making new contacts and showcasing
your products and services.
How Do You Become A (Host) Sponsor?
As a member in good standing with the Hastings Area Chamber of Commerce, you are eligible to host or
sponsor a BAH, that will give your business high visibility within the Hastings business community. All you need
to do is simply call the Chamber office at 402-461-8400 and ask for Mikki Shafer. You will decide the date and
location of the event. The hours typically are 5:00 pm - 7:00 p.m. and usually are held on a Thursday night. The
Host/Business sponsor is responsible for all food, refreshment, flyer invitation and getting a liquor license for the
event. As a sponsor, you are entitled to showcase any promotional materials or displays regarding your
business to highlight a new product or focus on your area of service or expertise. It is suggested that the sponsor
send your own special invitations to potential and valued customers. You will be given time at 6:00 pm to
introduce yourself and your staff and speak about your business.
Advantages as a Business After Hours Host/Sponsor
You automatically target promotional efforts to the business network’s most successful, conscientious and
dynamic business leaders. Chamber staff will help you advertise you Business After Hours event through email
blasts, a newsletter insert, Facebook posts, and text message notices. Your business has exclusive rights to
distribute promotional material, offer door prizes, set up displays, provide tours, hand out business cards and
speak to a captive audience to promote any upcoming activities.
The Bottom Line
Take advantage of our Business After Hours gatherings to promote your products and services to other Chamber
members. Remember, your Chamber membership will be more valuable if you increase the level of business
connections by using these opportunities and host an event with fellow members.

Adams County 4-H Livestock Auction
Sponsored by: Hastings Area Chamber of Commerce
Monday, July 20, 2015 at 9:00 a.m.
Registration: 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.
Auction: 9:00 a.m.
Location: Livestock Arena,
Adams Co. Fairgrounds, Hastings, NE
Species: Beef, Sheep, Swine, Goat, & Market Broiler
Support youth in Agriculture. The 4-H Livestock Auction is your opportunity to show support for
local agricultural youth who represent future leaders and customers in Adams County and whose parents do business
with you today! All money goes directly to the 4-Hers.
Even if you can’t attend, you can still help.
We would love to have you participate in the
excitement of the auction. But, if you cannot join us, the Chamber Ag Committee will handle your bids, or if you
prefer to make a general donation to underwrite expenses or support the auction as a whole, we would appreciate your
help. If you wish to remain anonymous, your donation will be added to a “Friend of 4-H” fund for auction support.
No, you don’t have to find a place for an animal!
All bids are a premium, paid to the 4-H’s, you do not actually purchase the animal. However you do have the option
to keep the animal by paying the packer bid, plus your premium bid. For example you could purchase an animal and
have a BBQ for your employees or meat for the freezer. Arrangements for processing need to be made in advance.
Here is a listing of those processors willing to take animals for slaughter. Transportation can be arranged
with the 4-H Council. Processing will be the responsibility of the purchaser.

Good Business Advertising.
We make sure your name is prominently announced at
the auction, as well as in all promotional materials. No doubt, people will know that you are a supporter of
Agriculture in Adams County. If you purchase a Champion animal, you will have your picture taken with the
4-Her and their project.
Your dollars stay here, helping local youth.
The 4Her’s have invested a lot of time and
energy with their animals. By participating in the auction, you can reward their efforts demonstrate your interest
in nurturing the future of agriculture here at home.
If you are interested in attending the auction, making a contribution or have any questions,
please call (402) 461-7209 and leave a message and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
Your participation can and will make a difference!
