SkyLine/SkyBest Supports
LMC Summer Theatre
SkyLine/SkyBest is pleased to be a corporate sponsor
of the Lees-McRae Summer Theatre program again this
year. This season, LMC Summer Theatre will present
comedy and musicals beginning with Oliver which
opened on June 26 and ends with a matinee on July 3,
followed by Lend Me a Tenor which opens on July 15
and The Denim King which opens on August 1.
Oliver, the beloved musical based on
Charles Dickens’ Oliver Twist, has won
numerous awards including the Tony for
Best Musical and Academy Award for
Best Picture. SkyLine is pleased to be the
presenting corporate sponsor of this show,
a must see for children and adults.
The comedy, Lend Me a Tenor, won
the Tony for Best Play and Best Revival of
a Play, and The New York Times says it is
“one of the two great farces by a living
writer.”
Several years ago, the Blue Ridge
Parkway Foundation commissioned Janet
Speer and John Thomas Oaks to write a
musical about the Cone Dynasty and Flat
Top Manor, the Cone mansion that resides
along the Parkway in Blowing Rock, NC.
The Denim King was produced at the Blowing Rock Stage
Company and became their best attended production.
This fascinating show tells the story of how Moses Cone
and his brother Ceasar developed textiles– particularly
denim. For ticket and complete schedule information, visit

SkyLine Wins National Award
SkyLine received national recognition during the
NTCA PR and Marketing Conference in Austin, Texas,
in late April.
The national organization honors the year’s best work
in rural independent telco marketing and public relations
through its annual TeleChoice Awards program, recognizing excellence in NTCA member company annual reports, customer newsletters, print publications, marketing
campaigns, websites and local video content.
SkyLine was honored for the third time in this category in recent years when it received a 2015 First-Place
Award for Annual Reports among companies with access
lines of 10,000 or more. The entry was judged in the
production category “outsourced,” where the creative
aspect was implemented with assistance from a consultant or outside firm (Kemp Advertising & Marketing).
Annual Reports are judged on design and graphical
elements, writing and effective presentation of finances.
The 2014 Report is featured on SkyLine’s website
under the About SkyLine tab and on the company
profile page.

SkyBest Among Sponsors of
An Appalachian Summer Festival’s
Popular Series
SkyBest Communications will be among the Popular
Series sponsors at An Appalachian Summer Festival,
the monthlong summer arts program that features a variety of music, theatre, film and dance on the campus of
Appalachian State University in Boone. Debuting in 1984
as a chamber music festival, it has developed over the
years to become one of the nation's largest regional
multi-arts festivals with over 26,000 people in attendance
each year. Presented by the Appalachian State University
Office of Arts & Cultural Programs, the annual arts celebration is held every July, and corporate sponsorships
help to keep ticket prices affordable for area residents.
Dubbed “The Last Leading Man” by
The New York Times, Tony Award-winning Brian Stokes Mitchell has enjoyed
a rich and varied career on Broadway, television and film, along with appearances
in the great American concert halls. Brian
Stokes Mitchell will perform with the
Winston-Salem Symphony on July 11.
David Grisman revolutionized
acoustic string music. Bryan Sutton is one of the most sought after
acoustic guitarists on the planet.
The David Grisman Sextet and
special guests, the Bryan Sutton
Band, will perform on July 17.
The Beach Boys have
birthed a torrent of hit singles and sold albums by the
tens of millions. But the
band’s greater significance
lies in the fact that it
changed the musical landscape so profoundly that every pop act since has been in
its debt. The Beach Boys will perform at the Holmes Convention Center on July 18.
Lisa Fischer has been a back-up
singer for Luther Vandross and Tina
Turner, and has toured with The Rolling
Stones. Along with Darlene Love, Merry
Clayton, Patti Austin and Judith Hill, she's
featured in Morgan Neville’s documentary film Twenty Feet from Stardom. Lisa
Fischer and Grand Baton will perform
on July 23.
Scott Bradlee, pianist,
arranger, and composer,
and Postmodern Jukebox
have been viewed on
YouTube well over a hundred million times. The
band covers recent pop songs with jazz or other genre
variations. Scott Bradlee’s Postmodern Jukebox will
perform on July 31.

Lightning: What to Do,
Before, During and After
BEFORE A LIGHTNING STORM:
Unplug your cordless phone, answering
machine and modems from their jacks and
electrical outlets. We recommend this even if
you use surge protectors because those devices
cannot guarantee 100-percent protection.
DURING A STORM:
Stay off the telephone unless you need to make
an emergency call. Lightning does strike telephone lines.
AFTER THE STORM:
If you notice static on your line, make sure that a
damaged cordless phone, computer or satellite
dish isn’t causing it. To test, just unplug all
equipment from the jacks and electrical outlets.
Wait a minute and plug in a standard non-cordless phone. If the static is gone, you can assume
your other equipment is causing the problem
and may be damaged.
If you have static on the line and know your
equipment isn’t causing it, call us! Please don’t
wait, assuming that there is a more universal
problem that we know about. Call our Repair Services Department at 1877-475-9546 should you need additional assistance.
