The Chambers supports our businesses that may not be able to
bring in monthly speakers to motivate or educate their employees; the

for many community events such as Christmas Parade, Easter Egg Hunt and Movies in the

works closely with the hotels to boost Hewitt’s economy.
Why should I join? I personally love the Hewitt Chamber of Commerce for its purpose
and vision to build a community that connects members to important community issues,
and provides opportunities for individuals and businesses to make a difference together,
supporting one another.
With all these great benefits, why wouldn’t a business take advantage of all the benefits
the Chamber has to offer? We exist because of our loyal members, and our Membership

How much does it cost to become a member? $195 for businesses and $50 for individuals.

Your dental health is important to us!
Central Texas
Dental Care
By Dale Williams, DDS
The year was 1983,
and it was very good for
me for three principle
reasons. First, I graduated from dental school;
second I established
my dental practice in
Hewitt; and third I was
introduced by my builder
and his wife, Frank and
Jenny Arnold, to De
Smith and the Hewitt
Chamber of Commerce,
in which, I became actively involved.
I totally had a blast in
those early years, not
only treating the dental
needs of our community
but also in helping grow
Hewitt as a business
community.
Those early days of
the Hewitt Chamber of
Commerce were filled
with great fun, wonderful friendships and an
impressive array of fundraisers and community
service.
Much like the Hewitt
Chamber of Commerce,
which has grown and
flourished in this fertile
community, Central
Texas Dental Care has
also grown and prospered. We have had
three major expansions
in our facility and our
staff has grown from
one dentist and one staff
member to three dentists and approximately

20 front office workers,
dental assistants and
dental hygienists.
Dr. Monte Cooper
joined our practice in
1993 and Dr. Michael
Cooney became our third
doctor in 2006.
We three partners
would also like to acknowledge our fabulous
office administrator, Traci
Waldschmidt. She does
an incredible job of orchestrating the complex
business aspects of our
practice and connecting
with our community.
If you are a patient
of Central Texas Dental
506 Hewitt Drive
(254) 666-1686
Care, you are aware of
our commitment to stay
on the cutting edge of
dental technology. Probably the most incredible
treatment we offer today
are the crowns in one
day. For anyone who has
worn a temporary crown
before, you know what
an advantage this is. This
same technology allows
us to replace old silver
fillings with near custom
fit porcelain restorations
that truly mimic actual
tooth structure. We will
continue to add the latest
and greatest treatments
as they become proven.
One of the obvious
advantages that we have
at Central Texas Dental
Care is that the three
partner dentists are able
to offer an incredible wide
range of dental services
with experience. Thus,
we are able to solve most
dental problems.
For nearly 30 years
we have led the way in
Central Texas in progressive patient centered
dentistry. Your dental
health is important to us
and this is why we so
enjoy creating wonderful
smiles. Come be a part
of our dental family.

what you are doing
Distracted driving isn’t just about
phone calls or text messages.
Many activities that take your
attention away from traffic can lead to
accidents.
Examples of distracted driving
include:
• Adjusting a navigation system
• Eating
• Grooming
• Reading
• Retrieving a dropped item
• Talking on the phone
• Texting
• Watching a video
Nearly half the U.S. states have
restrictions against activities that
cause distractions. Some states ban
phone use in construction zones and
school zones. Others place restrictions
on novice drivers and operators of
commercial vehicles, such as large
trucks and school buses.
Take the time to research the laws in
your state and visit www.distraction.gov.
So, the next time you reach for
the phone while driving, answer this
question: Is this call important enough to
risk hurting someone, or can it wait?

Distracted driving is extremely
dangerous and can cause personal
injury and property damage.
Drivers who use hand-held devices
are four times as likely to get into
crashes serious enough to injure
themselves.1
Even with a hands-free device, multitasking while driving could have serious
consequences.
You’ve seen it before: a vehicle
near you is weaving in the traffic lane
or traveling well below the speed limit.
Chances are that driver is not focused
on the road!
According to the U.S. Department of

types of distractions:

Fire Safety in your Home
Brought to you by:
In fire prevention & safety, a fire extinguisher should be your next
investment after a smoke detector. Fire experts recommend at least one
for every level of your house. They come in various sizes; you’ll need
to choose the size that’s right for you based on your family situation and
who you think is most likely to be using it. The five pound ABC model is
the most popular.
Fire safety experts recommend that you keep your extinguisher near the main exit of your home or one in
the kitchen, near the stove.
Use the PASS (Pull, Aim, Squeeze, and Sweep) method. At the top, is a safety pin with a round piece attached to it, hold the round part of the pin, and pull it out. Then point the nozzle where the flames are
coming from, not at the flames themselves. Make sure you’re at least six feet away from the flames. Then
squeeze the trigger, which releases the chemicals, and move the extinguisher back and forth in a sweeping
motion to get good coverage, while keeping it upright.

Up or Down - Life Goes On
Here’s a quick note to let you know
how we can help you or anyone you
feel comfortable introducing us to.
Whether the market is up or down,
the fact is — people are still buying
and selling houses.
Perhaps they’re relocating to another town or state, or moving just a
few miles to get into another school
district.
Perhaps they’re empty nesters

who want to downsize to a condo,
or a young family ready to transition
from their first home to a large family
home.
The next time you’re in a conversation with a friend, family member or
neighbor and they mention that they
want to sell their home, would you
stop, take out your cell phone, look
up our number and call us immediately?
We’ll send you a free copy of our

them.
This booklet is full of quick and
easy tips to make a house show like
