SLE PTO News
Happy almost Thanksgiving everyone! It's hard to believe the week of Thanksgiving is already here. The
school year, as usual, is flying by.
KINDNESS WEEK
Kindness week was a huge success last week! Thanks to Mrs. Burdine for all of her hard work in putting
everything together! All of the events and items that went home last week were PTO sponsored. Hopefully
you heard all about Basketball Jones and Poetry Alive from your kids! Encourage your kids to keep their acts
of kindness going through the year and if you get a photo of them doing something kind be sure to send it to
me with with the #KindKnights so we can recognize them on our FB page!
PARENTING IN THE DIGITAL AGE
The Kings School Counselors are excited to bring a parenting class on technology and media use. Please join
us on Saturday, December 5th from 8:30-11:00 AM at Columbia Intermediate School. This program is
presented by Beach Acres Parenting Center and features a local technology and education expert from
Cincinnati Bell. Please see the attached flyer for more
information. http://www.kingslocal.net/media/documents/Parenting%20in%20a%20Digital%20Age%20Flyer.pdf
BRIGHTER SMILES BETTER SCHOOLS PROGRAM
Agenter Orthodontics is partnering with SLE and other KLSD schools for their Brighter Smiles, Better Schools
program. If you begin treatment with Agenter and mention the Brighter Smiles Better Schools program, they
will donate $50 back to our school! Please see the attached flyer for more information.
PULL TABS COLLECTION
As a community service project, SLE's Student Council will be collecting pull tabs to donate to Cincinnati's
Ronald McDonald House. We're helping keep families together when it matters most, and we're teaching our
students the value of recycling! Student can bring tabs to school in any non-breakable container to their
homeroom. The homeroom bringing in the most pull tabs will receive an ice icream party in May. Pull tabs will
be delivered to the Ronald McDonald House in January and May. Pull tabs are always accepted, but the party
contest will end at spring break. Please contact Mrs. Blount at [email protected] with any questions.
SNOW SHOP
Snow Shop it almost here! The Snow Shop dates are Wednesday, December 16th and Thursday, December
17th. The Snow Shop is a chance for all SLE students to shop for their loved ones and friends for items ranging
$.25 to $5 each.
Snow Shop family night will be Thursday, December 17th from 3:15-7pm and will include a visit from the Kona
Ice truck! Families can come in and shop together for everyone on their list! We will even have live
demonstrations from the eClub on reusable and recycled ways to wrap your newly purchased gifts. You cannot
beat the prices and supporting SLE is just a win win!
We could use Snow Shop volunteers. Volunteer forms will go home this week, but it's easiest to sign up at:

RESTOCK THE CLOSETS
It is time for winter weather which turns into indoor recess quickly. Our wonderful teachers have specific
classroom requests, and some general wish list items, to help our children get through the doldrums of winter
weather. Flyers will go home this week, but the general message is that if you see something fun that children
could do during indoor recess (dry erase boards/markers, board games, cards, puzzles, etc...) during your
holiday shopping, please grab an extra and send it in to your child's teacher. No donation is too small or large.
Thank you!
Questions, comments, and concerns should go to Sommer at [email protected].
ORDER YOUR SLE SCHOOL DIRECTORY
Attached is the directory order form that will come home in backpacks this week. Directories are $3 each and
will include parent contact info organized by classroom. It is a great way to help parents plan play dates with
your child's classmates, especially on days when we don't have school. Please send in your directory order
form & payment no later than Dec 4th. We expect the directories to be printed and sent home in backpacks the
week of Dec 14th.
BOYS YOUTH LACROSSE
