t was a busy summer for celebrity sales.
Television personalities Andrew Denton
and Jennifer Byrne have bought a two
hectare retreat at Mount Murray. The $1.1
million property was sold by artist Anne
Judell to the couple, who recently relocated
from Double Bay to a $4,025,000 Surry
Hills penthouse. Late last year the actor
John Waters and his wife Zoe Burton sold
their $1,625,000 Leichhardt home given
their relocation to Robertson. They bought
an old, four bedroom, weatherboard
farmhouse on two hectares for $712,000.
And without confirmation from Ian
Rayner Real Estate, there are whispers that
former Australian Medical Association
president Dr Kerryn Phelps and her
partner, Jackie Stricker-Phelps, have
bought a small acreage in Bowral.
K
alimna Farm, the Burrawang
garden estate, marketed as possibly
the most private acre in the hamlet,
has been listed with $2.3 million
expectations. The lifestyle property has
been the weekender of Campaign Brief
publisher Michael Lynch and partner
Patsy Peacock, chairman of bestadsontv.
com. The five bedroom offering is
through Michael Maloney at Richardson
& Wrench Bowral.
G
lencraig, the 10 hectare Sutton
Forest property, has been listed
with $3.3 million plus hopes
through Angus Campbell-Jones at
Campbell-Jones Property. It last sold at
$3.4 million in 2005. The house first sold
in 1998 for $1.94 million, after being
built by John Hewson.

he Mount Gibraltar P&O-style
property Yammatree has been sold
by property company director
Richard Sheppard. He recently subdivided
the lot down to 4000 square metres,
keeping the remainder as part of his
neighbouring property, High Roding. Drew
Lindsay Real Estate agent Karl Zabel had a
$1.35 million asking price and secured
around $1.3 million for the 1930s house,
which was built by Don Bradman’s
brother, Vic.
B
usinessman and commentator John
Hewson has listed Invergowrie, the
Tudor-style Exeter estate, built in
the 1930s for BHP industrialist Sir Cecil
Hoskins, which now stands on 10.5
hectares. The seven bedroom house comes
with library, ballroom, studies and billiard
room. The grounds have Paul Sorensen
gardens with tennis court, bocce pit,
swimming pool, croquet lawn, orchard,
vegetable gardens, a Japanese garden with
waterfall, aviary and three guest houses.
Designed by architect Geoffrey Loveridge,
Invergowie replaced Headlands, which had
been owned by the Yates seed family.

self-help author, sold it for $3.35 million

It is now for sale at $5.5 million.
