Get Ready foR CheeR CamP!
et Ready for
GCheer
Camp!
Cheer camp is a lot like Girl Scout camp—you want to be prepared!
Suitcase Packing List
cheer shorts (at least 1 pair for every day you’re at
camp)
tanks and tees (2 for each day)
sweatshirt
lots of socks
sports bras, if you wear them
cheer shoes
regular shoes
underwear (1 pair for each day, plus a few extra pairs)
pajamas
2 bath towels and washcloths
cheer bows (1 for every outfit!)
glasses or contact lenses and lens solutions, if you
wear them
rubber bands for braces and your retainer and case, if
you use them
makeup if you wear it (keep it very simple)
camera, batteries or charger, and an extra memory
card
alarm clock
MP3 player, charger, and headphones
cell phone and charger
notepad and pen to take notes
reusable water bottle
sunscreen
flip-flops for the shower
some spending money (for snacks, drinks, and
souvenirs)
Bedding
Some camps ask you to bring your own sheets. In
that case, bring a flat sheet, a fitted sheet, a blanket,
and a pillow. Even if pillows are provided, you might
want to bring your own.
Getting-Ready Bag
You can get a lot of your essentials in travel sizes at
grocery or discount stores. Bring a separate small bag
to carry everything you need to get ready. That’ll save
you time, especially if it’s a hike to the bathroom. The
following items can go in your getting-ready bag:
toothbrush
toothpaste
dental floss
face wash
soap or body wash
shampoo, conditioner, and hair products
hair dryer, curling iron, and/or hair straightener, if
you use them
brush and comb
lots of ponytail holders and hair clips (they get lost
easily!)
deodorant
shaving cream and razors, if you shave your legs. If
you shave your legs the night before camp, you
won’t have to worry about shaving the first day or
two.

nail polish remover
cotton balls
nail clippers and nail file

mint or peppermint

the morning before going to stunt—it will make
you slippery and hard to hold on to!)

hand sanitizer
travel pack of disinfectant wipes
individual pack of tissues
instant stain remover pen
individual stain pretreatment wipes
body splash (for a quick refresh!)
skin care products
First Aid
Camp counselors will have access to first-aid

stash in your purse or suitcase.

lip balm
tampons and/or pads, if you use them
pain relief medicine (if you’re old enough)

If you’re going with your cheer team:
Ask your coach if you should bring your uniform.
Some camps have a spirit day—find out if yours does
and what the theme is so you can be prepared.
Room Decorations
team-themed crepe paper for streamers
poster board to make posters for your door and room
extra paper and pen to write spirit notes
tape, markers, and stickers
Camp Safety Tips
Hydrate! Drink lots of water when you’re exercising.
Keep your water bottle handy and remember to
drink from it often.
Protect your skin. If you’re outdoors, apply sunscreen
in the morning and again after lunch.
Watch carefully. You’ll be learning a lot in a short
amount of time, so be sure to pay attention and ask
questions if you have any.
Sleeping Beauty. Get plenty of rest each night, even if
you’d rather be staying up late to hang out with your
teammates. You need your energy for the next day.
It’s not as much fun—and it’s a lot more dangerous—
to cheer when you’re tired.
