There is so much water sitting in the toilet bowls!
The roads are so nice and there are stop lights and stop signs
at intersections!
There is always water and there is always hot water!
There are no breaks in electric power or in the internet
connection!
Automatic indoor air conditioning and heating!
It was so nice to drive up to a store and walk right in without
someone bomb-checking my car and checking my purse for
explosives—so easy to get in and out! Ahh!
Walmart is ABSOLUTELY HUGE and carries everything
imaginable! So fun and overwhelming to shop!

Our New Home
We were so excited when God provided a new home for us in May!
For two years, we lived about
30 minutes from the school
and it made my daily commute of twice a day going
out to the school seem so
long. (Two hours of driving a
day!) Another missionary
family let us know they were
returning to the USA and we
were able rent the house they were renting.
The kids are thrilled to have a yard and we are thrilled to be able to literally walk out our compound gate,
cross the road, and enter the school compound! We love it!!
Another crazy “God-thing” is that three of our four neighbors in this
compound are also missionaries that work at West Nairobi School and
on top of that two of the families are ones that we have known for 10
plus years!! We have worked with them at previous NICS schools in
other countries and now we are neighbors
here in Nairobi. We are incredibly blessed
and surprised by how God has worked.
We are so thankful for the Lord’s timely
provision for our needs!!
(See photo on right: We even have a banana tree in our yard! )
we minister to
children and
families from 29
different
countries!
WE ARE
THANKFUL FOR

Back to School
Our summer flew by and here we
are, a week into school! It feels so good to
be back in routine.
We are so thankful for all of our
new staff who have joined us this year! We
believe God is going to do great things as
we minister to children and families from

day, trusting that God will do eternal works
in those around us. (And in us, too!)
Being a parent of a student myself, I realize just how much a good school
blesses a child and their family! And I realize that we have such a huge impact on
people’s lives, even when we don’t see immediate fruit.
Just yesterday, we admitted a new Egyptian family, and Duane listened to
them share about the struggles their home country is going through. Then Duane
was able to pray with them for them and their country. What a divine appointment!
Andrew is now enjoying 1rst grade and Julia and I just began our last year
at home together!

Hillary Kibele
Last March or so, we wrote to you of a young girl, named Hillary Kibele. She is the
daughter of our house helper, Christine, who is pictured here on
++ In Kenya, high
the left. They are believers and they are very poor, trusting God
schools are only
for their daily needs. Christine works for us several days a week
boarding schools and
and all though we pay her well, her family still struggles to make
they are expensive
ends meet.
(for Kenyans) to atAbout 8 months ago, we found out that Hillary, Christine’s tend. Hillary goes to
daughter, finished the equivalent of Jr. High School and had scored a school about 1 hour
away from home by
very high on the national exams. She wanted so badly to attend
small bus.
High School, but at around $800 a year (including uniforms, books, medical, food, etc.), it was an impossible dream. Her parents make between $100-$200 a month, so we felt like we wanted to support Hillary so that she could attend
school and finish high school if at all possible. We sent out a letter explaining her story and some of you responded with wonderful gifts to help towards Hillary’s schooling. Her family was blown away by our willingness to help.
She has already finished the first 2 trimesters of her freshman year and she is doing very well. We were able to pay $10
extra a month for Hillary to have “better” food at her boarding school and Christine is pleased to see her gain weight. She was so
thrilled about how her daughter looked when Hillary came home that Christine exclaimed that her daughter’s face looked like a
“banana skin!” I’m not sure what that meant, but I think it was good! If you want to see a photo of Hillary, it will be attached to
my email that this came in as an attachment.
If you are interested in helping us help Hillary, you can send a check directly to my (Wendy’s)
parents at 10707 Idlebrook Drive; Houston, TX 77070. Make the check out to Wendy Jobe, but be sure
to put a note that it is for Hillary and it will go directly to her schooling.
***Please take just a moment and lift up a prayer!***
Ministering directly to
the poor is a whole new
realm for us.
It is always a challenge
and we are growing in
our ability to love and
help the poor and find
balance at the same
time.
Realizing that God is
their God and He is their
provider.
And God may choose us
to meet their need or He
may not.

Please lift up a prayer for Duane for strength, fresh vision, and fresh
faith as He leads the ministry at West Nairobi School. Please also ask
for grace as Duane works on his finishing his dissertation to complete
his doctorate!

Please pray for healing for Duane~ he has had an intense pain in his neck and shoulder
which may be from a compressed disc. We are still waiting for the results of some
tests to tell us what it may be. The pain is debilitating and it makes it hard for him to
work and focus. Pray for an “answer.”

Please pray for us as a family to be effective ministers of God’s grace to those around
us.

Please pray for Andrew and Julia that they will continue to adjust well to living in a
very foreign country and grace as they miss our families back home in America.

Please pray for God’s full provision for us. We are seeking the Lord’s provision for
several specific needs.
