Think barbeques on the lush greens all day and
fireworks at night. Fourth of July celebrations are
never complete without a breathtaking fireworks display to light up the night sky and spending lazy afternoons for the Americans. Though our city has a large
set of Americans who are missing their homeland, it’s
not stopping them from soaking in the revelry. We find
out the interesting ways in which they are celebrating
the spirit of freedom and independence today.
Camaron Vallapalli, a lawyer, married an Indian software
engineer and moved from Oregon to Bengaluru eight years
ago. Camaron gets nostalgic as she shares, “I miss getting
together with family on this day.

Since it falls right in the
middle of summers in the
US and is a holiday, we
would all get together and
do our cookouts. I especially
loved the barbeques. But I
plan to do it my way even
here. I have got some decorations and will put them
up. I will also cook our traditional hot dogs and potato
salad. I might just bring out
my stars and stripes sunglasses to add to my look.”
American
national,
Dianne Cobbpenissi, from
Washington DC who introduced Bengaluru to Zumba,
shares, “Since I go to my
hometown
Washington
every few months, I’m not
really missing home that
much. I used to work with
United Airlines and became
a Zumba trainer and introduced the same in the city at
Attakalari dance studio. I
don’t have family here and
have made many friends in
the city, so I plan to finish
work and head to a party to
celebrate the American
Independence Day.”

Talking about how she bagged
the role, she shares, “One of the
