There's a new scam targeting consumers today called "card cracking." It works like this: a scammer
promises a bank customer quick cash by asking them to provide account credentials, then deposits a
fake check into the customer's account. The scammer then makes an immediate ATM withdrawal and
shares some of the funds with the customer, who is instructed to report the card or credentials lost or
stolen. By doing so, the customer becomes a criminal accomplice. Never respond to online solicitations
for easy money, and never share your account number or pin. If someone contacts you through social
media or creates a post asking for this information, report them immediately.
