Silly Bandz Craze in 5th Grade
Silly Bandz are colored rubber
bands that have a certain shape
and can glow. Silly Bandz became popular at the beginning
of 2010. Silly Bandz are like
money at school and can be
traded during lunch time.
There are all sorts of foods,
sports stuff, fantasy, and those
are just some of the Silly Bandz
that are available. Almost everybody has some Silly Bandz.
But some teachers don’t allow
them being taken off the wrist,
and some schools have banned
Silly Bandz completely.

Many 5th graders enjoyed Miss Chamberlin’s classes last year in 4th grade. Everyone remembers that she is a big fan of
cows! We wanted to find out more about
her so we visited Miss Chamberlin for an
interview.
Aaryonna and Zach (A & Z): Why do you
like cows?
Miss Chamberlin (MC): I started collecting them when I was a little girl.
A & Z: How many cows are in your collection?
MC: Over 50!
A & Z: Do you like all cows?
MC: Only the ones that don’t stink.
A & Z: Do you have a pet dog or cat?
MC: I don’t, but I wish I had a cat!
A & Z: Do you have a pet cow?
MC: No!!
A & Z: Do you like kittens?
A & Z: Do you wish you were a cow?
MC: Yes, love them!
MC: Sometimes, when I crave grass!
A & Z: Do you like Crayolas?
A & Z: Do you wish cows were all over the
world?
MC: Yes, it’s the only way to color!
MC: Yes!!!
A & Z: What is your favorite color?
MC: Black & White.
A & Z: Do you like Silly Bandz?
MC: Not a big fan!

Kevin: So people think marshmallows are
not real.
Marshmallow: Oh we’re real alright. Just
look in your lunch box.
Levi: Oh my…
Dyllan: Well, um, interesting.
Marshmallow: What? WHAT? YOU
THINK I’M STUPID?
Kevin: No, no! Not at all!
Dyllan: Well..
Levi: DYLLAN BE QUIET! WE DON’T
NEED YOUR COMMENTS RIGHT

Kevin: Whoa Levi..
Levi: WHAT YOU THINK I’M STUPID
NOW!
Kevin: No!
Dyllan: Yeah!
Kevin: Really, Dyllan?
Marshmallow: I know how you feel, Levi.
Kevin: Well, Marshmallow, can you tell us a
bit about your life when you were a kid?
Marshmallow: Yeah sure! It all started in
Marshmallow Valley. I was a small marshmallow. The turkey sandwiches won’t let
me play capture the grapes.
Dyllan: Do you mean Capture the Corn?
Marshmallow: No, grapes.
Levi: Oh. Wait where did Kevin go?
Kevin: Sorry I just went to get some NACHOZ.
Marshmallow: Can I have a nacho?
Kevin: NO!
Levi: How about me?
Kevin: NO!
Dyllan: What about me?
Kevin: NO!
Old woman with cane: Can I have one
little boy?
Kevin: Yes!!!!
Levi: Well, anyway, back to the story.
Marshmallow: Well they won’t let me
play capture grapes and they DON’T
GIVE ME NACHOZ!!!! SO GIVE ME A
NACHO!.
Kevin: Geez ok!
Marshmallow: Yum. Well, I hate when I
am left out.
Levi: But I like turkey sandwiches.
Marshmallow: WELL YOU SHOULDN’T
CUZ THEN IM GOING TO EAT YOU!!!
Levi: OH NO YOU DIDN’T!
Dyllan: Don’t you mean we’re going to
eat you?
Marshmallow: Oh no *runs*
MOMMMMMMY
Marshmallow’s Mom: WHAT HAVE YOU
SAID TO MY SON?
Levi: TEE HEE I bet she's small.
Dyllan: Oh my...
Kevin: YOU’RE LIKE 7 FOOT TALL!
Marshmallow’s Mom: 7 foot 2, to be exact.
Dyllan: Well, that’s a big marshmallow.
Old Lady with Cane: *walks in*
MY PRAYERS HAVE CAME TRUE!
A 7 FOOT MARSHMALLOW! *Sacred-
sounding music starts* *Light comes
on marshmallows mom*
Marshmallow’s Mom: WHATS HAPPENING?
Old Lady with Cane: I’m going to eat
you and ENJOY IT with chocolate!
Marshmallow’s Mom: * runs away*
Levi: why didn't we think of that?
Dyllan: *eats marshmallow*
Levi and Kevin: BUT WE WANTED
THE MARSHMALLOW!
Dyllan: Share your NACHOZ with
Levi!
Kevin: But I ate it…
Dyllan: Oh no… *runs*
Levi and Kevin: *chases Dyllan*

5th Grade Recess Fun!
Fifth graders find many different activities to participate in at recess each day.
Some like
to play on
the playground.
Some kids play soccer. We recently got
new goal nets.
Some like to walk or run on the track.

to play
tether ball
or basketball on the
blacktop.
