Hi All,
Sorry I missed the April meeting, a special thank you to Wayne and the
crew for looking after things in my absence. Thank you for the support for ANZAC Day, our club was present in force right across the Sunshine Coast.
The new clubroom: The preliminary plumbing and concrete slab is now finished
and the steel fabrication has been manufacture. Delivery is Monday, 18 May and
construction time, subject to weather will be approximately eight days. A working bee will be called for at our May meeting to clean
the site and lay the turf, etc; the expected date for
the working bee will be Saturday, 30 May.
Please do not forget to support the Nambour Show.
Ten (10) cars a day are required for the three days.
MOTORKANA will have been and gone by the time this
goes to print. It will be a great club rally as always.
At our next meeting we have a new member to vote on,
Mr Storm Day.
See you soon,
Kev
The Sunshine Coast Antique Car Club
was formed in 1963 to foster preservation of our motoring heritage by providing an avenue for sharing of information
by the owners of veteran and vintage
cars (prior to 1/1/1919 and 1/1/1931
respectively) and the encouragement of
their restoration and preservation.
They also intended to educate and
interest the general public by displays,
rallies, etc.
Today we welcome all people interested
in preservation and restoration of our
motoring and machinery history.
Generally, our members come from
those owning such over 30 years old but
owning one is not a mandatory requirement. Our veteran and vintage vehicles
remain our “respected citizens” due to
their historic significance. Rallies are
designed to allow for their limitations.
Our Rally Director tries to incorporate
suitable variations in rallies which will
cater for all our vehicles. S.C.A.C.C.
Phil Tucker
MID WEEK RALLY 22nd APRIL.
We started the day with a briefing at the clubrooms, with 16 vehicles on the road about 9:30, we headed south on to Howard St then
Petrie Creek road. I was leading the way in my 1929 Desoto when out
of the blue we were pulled over for a R.B.T. A few cars got through
but they pulled Rod & Bill over as well, we all caught up a bit further
down the road and made our way through Bli Bli and on to Mudjimba
then the park on North Shore by the beach for morning tea. It was a
bit busy there but we managed to get enough parking spots, we had a
pleasant time with the ladies baking treats being shared around.
After morning tea we made our way back through Bli Bli then Diddillibah where we all met up at the Hall then continued on Eudlo Flats
Rd, Parsons Rd, Mons Rd then via Owen Creek Rd Forest Glen for a
pleasant drive to Maroochy Bushland Botanic Gardens were we had
lunch in the big Shelter shed. To help the digestion most members explored the gardens with some nice walking tracks, where we all said our
farewells & headed for home. I would like to thank those who came &
making it a very enjoyable day, and those who could not attend maybe
next time. May your wheels always keep turning.
Gary Deane
Assistant Rally Director.
MID WEEK RUN 22 APRIL
Duncan MacFadyen
Greetings all,
Meg and I will be touring interstate during the month of May, so
here are a few reminders from last month’s report.
On Saturday, 30th May, St Michaels Fair, Bribie members normal assembly procedure, other members enter venue off Old Toorbul point
road to arrive prior to 09.00am.
The June Bribie run will be organised by Bob Parsons and will be a normal start procedure, travelling to Godwin Beach for byo morning tea,
then on to the Donnybrook, Toorbul and Meldale areas. There will not
be a July Bribie run due to the Swap meet.
Meg and I on behalf of our club would like to thank Gordon and Rose
Bess for the kind donation of a near new printer/copier/fax to the
club I am sure it will be most welcome.
Our best wishes to all,
Duncan and Meg.

David Bruce has donated books for library - he wants to know who owns the Lotus Europa at Signon-Day, he has a manual available. Bevin Mutch has a cousin with some old caravans, which may be
available very, very cheap. See Bevin. Video sessions conducted by Bob Wilson to commence at
6.30pm in future. There is a scam doing the email rounds suggesting it is from the Federal Police
and you should pay fines (bogus).
Can We Help:
evidently not
The Editor popped in to the Nambour Showgrounds unannounced on
Saturday, 9 May and found one of our members, Justin McCarthy very
busy entertaining some local residents in his canary yellow Austin 7
convertible, and the little Austin 7 doing a great impersonation of a
figure–eight and a four-wheel drift in the school car park (;-))
Good onya Justin!
