In 2013 the World Police Fire Games (WPFG) will be held in Belfast, Northern Ireland between 1 – 11 August.
I am sure you will all join me in saying how proud The IPA is in announcing its sponsorship of the event.
The IPA can benefit from its
association with the WPFG.
Section United Kingdom,
Northern Ireland Region, as
custodians of the
sponsorship package, is
implementing a marketing
and communications plan, as
well as seeking to support IPA
members visiting Northern
Ireland. This plan is
supported by Gal Sharon, Chair of the
International Social Commission (ISC), and Billy
Saunderson, a member of the ISC from
neighbouring Section Ireland.

On its quarterly magazine “Police World”
On its official Facebook page.
On all stationery and correspondence.

Within usual promotional activities, eg
recruitment brochures, advertisements,
exhibitions, circulars to police forces, staff
associations etc.
Ball Sports: including Basketball, Football,
Handball, Hockey, Volleyball and Rugby

An expected 10,000 athletes will compete in over
60 events. (See attached leaflet). IPA aims to
reach the athletes and the additional 15,000
spectators in the periods before, during and
after WFPG. A brief outline of the actions Section
UK, Northern Ireland Region will undertake to
achieve this are shown right.

The Sponsorship package paid for by the
International Treasury is being supplemented by
additional funds from Section UK and Region
Northern Ireland. Some of this funding and
activity may benefit only Section UK members.
However, other Sections wanting to benefit from
the marketing opportunities the WPFG presents
are welcome to discuss ideas on how they too
can contribute and gain extra members from
the event as soon as possible. Please do this
during the World Congress or email me on the
email address dedicated to all matters IPA /
WPFG.

In the meantime, I hope Sections will be able
to adopt some of the more simple techniques
shown and keep Section UK fully informed of
WPFG news from your Section, eg provide
details of any members from your Section who
will be competing.

Re-brand and position the IPA as “International
Police Association - World Police Fire Games
Bronze Partner” and / or “IPA – WPFG Bronze
Partner”.

Liaise with the WPFG, sponsorship partners,
press etc to ensure maximum leverage on the
sponsorship package.
Produce a unique logo combining IPA / WPFG.
Procure merchandise for sale and giveaways,
including special edition collector patches and
pins.
Build a portfolio of promotional materials eg
exhibition table, pop up banners, steward’s
clothing, brochures, catalogues etc for use at
the various events, particularly the registration
and accreditation event and ‘IPA Sponsored
Event’.
Competition prizes for Section UK members
including a high value voucher and ‘goodie
bags’.
Regular updates and news about the WPFG
and IPA athletes on Section UK’s Website and
magazine, with news feeds to the International
Secretary General, international webmaster
and Secretaries General.
Manage communication between IPA Sections
on matters relating to WPFG sponsorship and
IPA members visiting Northern Ireland and
seeking support.
Hospitality, including an ‘IPA members’ cheese
and wine function.
Exhibition stand during Registration and
Accreditation.
Special promotional price for enrolment to
Section UK - £20.13 and facility to enrol on
line on the day.
Liaise with the ISC on matters relating to the
event, including post-evaluation and
recommendation regarding future IPA
sponsorship in Year 2015.
