MAYOR DAWN ZIMMER & THE HOBOKEN CITY COUNCIL
HOBOKEN
SUMMER FUN
IN THE CITY
2011 RECREATION & CULTURAL AFFAIRS NEWSLETTER
D
ear Neighbor:
Hoboken is truly a unique community – an amazing
place to live that is so rich in culture and recreation
opportunities. That is what makes Hoboken so
special, and as Mayor, it is a pleasure to be able
to offer these free outdoor activities that bring our
community together.
In addition to favorites like Movies Under the Stars,
Summer Concerts, Art in the Park, Family Fun
Nights, and a wide variety of recreational activities,
this year we are adding some new exciting events.
On June 18th we will host Hobokenʼs first Fit & Fun Day along Sinatra Drive, which
will be closed to cars and open for bicyclists and pedestrians. There will be free urban
skills bike classes, group bike rides, and free outdoor workout, dance, and martial arts
classes provided by local gyms. I am also looking forward to welcoming the New
Jersey Symphony Orchestra to Hoboken on August 18th for a concert on Pier A.

We also continue to expand recreation opportunities. This year we are starting a new
basketball league for children and keeping the community pool open for an extra
3 weeks, plus Saturdays.
I hope you enjoy your summer and take advantage of all that Hoboken has to offer.
I look forward to seeing you at our events this summer.
