(Backing)
24283 A: Brown Zebra Stripe
• Cut (4) 2" x WOF strips; recut into (8) 2" x 8½" strips
and (8) 2" x 9½" strips.
• Cut (8) 2½" x WOF strips; recut into (2) 2½" x 34½"
strips, (2) 2½" x 30½" strips, (1) 2½" x 15" strip and (56)
2½" squares.
• Cut (6) 2¼" x WOF strips for binding.
Cutting Directions
WOF = width of fabric from selvage to selvage. Remove as
little fabric as possible when squaring strip ends.
24279 A: Patch Print
• Fussy-cut 4 rectangles with an animal centered in each,
referring to the cover quilt for animal suggestions. Cut
¼" from the outermost edges of each motif all around,
keeping size at least 5¾" wide x 5¾" tall but no larger
than 8½" wide and 8½" tall. An exact size is not
important. The rectangles will be framed and then
trimmed to the correct size.
24284 E: Multicolor Stripe
• Cut (6) 2" x WOF strips for inner border.
24285 E: Cream Geometric
• Cut (2) 6½" x WOF strips; recut into (32) 2½" x 6½"
rectangles.
24280 A: Scenic Stripe
• Fussy-cut (2) 7" x 38½" strips with an animal stripe
centered in each strip.
24285 G: Teal Geometric
• Cut (4) 1½" x WOF strips; recut into (8) 1½" x 8½"
strips and (8) 1½" x 10½" strips.
• Cut (7) 2½" x WOF strips; recut into (4) 2½" x 6½"
rectangles, (4) 2½" x 4½" rectangles and (80) 2½"
squares.
24282 A: Tan Leaves
• Cut (3) 2½" x WOF strips; recut into (2) 2½" x 15" strips
and (10) 2½" x 6½" rectangles.
• Cut (5) 3½" x WOF strips for outer border.
24281 A: Tossed Animal Print
• Cut (2) 68" x WOF backing pieces.
24282 EX: Cream Leaves
• Cut (1) 2½" x WOF strip; recut into (8) 2½" x 4½"
rectangles.

Patch Blocks:
make 10 pieced leaf units. Repeat with marked brown
zebra stripe squares on each end of (20) 2½" x 6½"
cream geometric rectangles to make pieced cream units.
Note: Use a ¼" seam allowance for all stitching.
1. Sew a 2" x 8½" brown zebra stripe strip to opposite
sides of each patch print rectangle. Press seams toward
the strips. Trim strip ends even with the edges of the
rectangles. Center and stitch a 2" x 9½" brown zebra
stripe strip to the top and bottom of each rectangle.
Press seams toward the strips. Trim each framed patch
to 8½" x 8½", keeping the animal centered in each
square. Note: The brown zebra stripe strips may be
narrower on the sides than on the top and bottom of the
trimmed blocks and there may be very little of the stripe
strips on the sides.
