the Bernese Oberland Alps. Inaugurated in 1967, the
four-section aerial cableway starts at Stechelberg in the
Lauterbrunnental valley, passing via Mürren on its way
up to the peak (2,970 m).

James Bond is everywhere: “Bond World 007” in the upper
terminal building celebrates “On Her Majesty’s Secret
Service”. The film was premiered in cinemas at the end of
1969; the mountain towering 1,300 m above the car-free
holiday destination of Mürren is the Piz Gloria. Personal
Bond moments on the Schilthorn: from a skilled throw of the
hat in Miss Moneypenny’s office to a thrilling dash in the
bob sled and flight in the Alouette III helicopter simulator.
The exhibition also presents extracts from the film itself.
The James Bond 007 Brunch is a popular choice at the
world’s first revolving restaurant – featuring fresh alpine
products, it’s available daily until 14:00 during the summer
months.

Magnificent all-round views in front of the main ridge of the Alps: peak-laden panorama
from the Eiger face via the flanks of the Jungfrau to the Gspaltenhorn and Blüemlisalp.
Engineering
A single cabin makes the trip from the lower terminal at Stechelberg to Gimmelwald –
a second cabin descends at the same time from Mürren to Gimmelwald.
Insider’s tip
The glass-and-steel platform at the Birg middle terminal hovers above the vertical terrain,
offering unobstructed views of the entire mountain panorama all the way down to the abyss.
Nature
Typical of the area encompassing Poganggen, the Schilttal valley and the Blumental valley
with the Suppenalp above Mürren is the particularly species-rich, exuberant mountain flora.
