THE PROJECT
• THE PROJECT is based on the former four
editions of the Festival of India held in Milano that
recorded for each year
20.000 to 35,000
admissions.
• In this occasion the Festival Of India : East Meets
West opens to other countries of SOUTH-EAST ASIA
ALL OF THEM HAVING A MILLENARY CULTURE
THE INTERNATIONAL YOGA &
AYURVEDA CONGRESS (7° EDITION)
IS BACK IN ITALY
An Yoga and Ayurveda Congress within a Festival ?
Well, yes. It is wanted to follow the pioneer animus of the creatress who already in 2002 she
founded the courage to introduce the deep philosophy and spirituality of yoga to a wide audience.
It is obvious, easier and certainly financially worthwhile to bring it in a niche area, where the
philosophy is already known .... but what should be the meaning of spreading Yoga where it it is
already known ?
This decision has been tested during the last few years and established that many people who came
to the exhibition to attend a martial art show, a charm dance performance or a concert or even just
to taste the Indian cooking, could appreciated the deep yoga techniques and the interesting
ayurvedic suggestions, the meditation and the yogasana demonstration.
A cliché due to a commonplace has been discredited. Those people who never would have decided
to come across to the oriental disciplines have found themselves in a fascinating world. They
started to regard these wonderful disciplines that teach tolerance and respect for all beings ... till
that moment they thought yoga and ayurveda as something for "insider".
Therefore, instead of offering it in some closed and discriminating places "for insider only" , where
the audience reaches 2.000 to 4.000 people, we have courageously decided to offer it to an audience
as wide as possible. In fact, usually our events are followed by 20.000 to 35.000 visitors.
We use the word "courage" because the "insider" boycott this event. They try to destroy it, to cut supports, perhaps because they are afraid to lose the privileges they have and toughly want to
continue to maintain them.
We want to defend the right of knowledge for everybody and ... furthermore we wish to share with everyone the possibility to participate ... because altogether, we can !!
We want to end with the slogan of the event: “….freed the knowledge ... and knowledge will safe
us…”
•
•
THE PURPOSE
The event enriched with new themes and content and because
of the versatility of the programs and interventions is directed
to everybody without any distinction. The aim is not just an
excuse to make known, in an interesting, unique, magic
and with fun way, those nations that are known by the common
stereotypes of "exotic". We believe that these realities can offer
much more than just a dip in the clear water, clumps of palm
trees, fragrant oils and spices. These Nations are a
great mouthpiece for known or unknown culture and
spirituality, and, if brought to a wider audience, can fascinate
and conquer even the most distracted visitor (such as the
philosophy of the Greeks had at the time the Romans
conquered the invaders).
But our primary intention is:
•
• 1st - Make people to be acquainted with the less known
aspects of these Countries, make them known and appreciated
because this helps to open minds. Open the doors of
knowledge, bring in more of the values in a society that is
lacking of values, and through this knowledge be able to avoid
intolerance and racism that seem increase rather than
decrease, multiply in our peninsula.
•
• 2nd - Allow people from these Countries to integrate
peacefully into our society while respecting customs, and laws of the nation that is accepting them.
•
This is a commitment that we feel a duty to perform THE OFFICIAL

…. INTERNATIONAL SIMPOSIUM :
“RAYS OF A UNIQUE LIGHT”
A platform where different
aspects of the spirituality
might walk together is taken
into consideration.
We avoid to define the different
lines as “Religions” to prevent
intolerances, ultraims and
discriminations.
Spirituality makes people united
under an only Light. This Light
may have different names but it
enlights in the same way minds
and hearts.

FASHION DEFILE BY
ATELIER ARMONIA
• The fashion designer
Dona Udeni presents
her fashion assortment
in two defiles on
Saturday and Sunday.
“Charm” is the main
peculiarity for colours
and shapes which take
line from the
atmospheres of mistery
and allurement
Henna Tattoo
• The art of Body decoration is one of the most ancient
and known of the Asian Southeast culture and having
the dyeing of skin as a protagonist by using henna or
Maruthani, a coloured substance deriving from
Lawsonia alba leaves inpowdered and applied with
geometrical drawings hands and feet. Even nowadays
henna decorations are attraction symbol, but it also
bring good luck during wedding ceremony and –
generally – for home as a shelter symbols.
Precisely, henna is used as an ornamentation of
hands and feet of bride and groom and it is
considered a symbol of the initiation of the woman
who, becoming a wife takes a new identity.
• Mehendi – henna tattoo- links the body ornamentation
not only to the human body but – overall - to the
spiritual meaning of the conjiugation of soul and
material. So as to every object a soul is associated, in
the same way henna ornamentations bring a positive
energy.
THE TEA CEREMONY
• Tea plant is a camelia with beautiful white
flowers and yellow ample stamens. According
to the English Tea Council there are one
thousand five hundred types. When growing
wild it can reach more than 10 metres hight,
but when it is gardened it is kept around one
meter, which means at a gathering measure.
The gathering happens normally several times
per year: the buttons on top of the sprig and
the first three or four leaves below are
gathered. Then the material is processed and
the output is the type of tea we usually find on
the market.
Indian make-up
Dona, the fashion designer
attending the festival, will
reserve one hour daily to
teach the fascinating Indian
make-up that gives a
particular brightness to the
visage and an intense
expressiveness. A quality for
which the oriental women
are considered beautiful
worldwide.
HOW TO WEAR A SARI?
A special moment is dedicated to “instruction of use” on how to wear a
sari, the traditional cloth of Indian women by means of which they all
look like a queen .
Wear a sari might be complicated for a Western woman …by the help of
an Indian lady we could avoid to look like being wrapped in a …
cooking paper …
Ethnic Restaurants
Restaurants presenting the typical Asian
Southeast cooking but not forgetting the
Ayurvedic cooking with its antidotes and its
suitable union of food.
To eat is not simply to taste some appetizing food
but it is good for you. This is one of the well
known secrets of the oriental kitchen which
together with its spicy smell and its intricate
taste is well known in our Country. We will try
to deepen its knowledge.
In the Asian Southeast Countries there are almost
one billion people and the territory is so wide
that it makes it various from the weather and
morphologic point of view . People from the
different states have such a different way of
living, each one depending on where they are
living : in the Northern areas at high altitude or
in the Central areas, with a blend climate or in
the Southern area with a tropical climate. The
differences of climate and territories makes
obvious differences in culture and of course in
the food.
The Asian Southeast cooking is one of the most
laboured style of cooking in the world and it is
rich with aromatic spices and dressings, being
very tasty and with unmistakable flavours.
