Viola Davis
Classically trained, award-winning actor, Viola Davis, has conquered every medium from
stage to television to film. From her Tony Award winning performances in King Hedley II
and Fences to her Academy Award nominated performances in The Help and Doubt,
Viola has burst through every barrier to become one of the most accomplished and
celebrated actors today. In 2015, she became the first African-American woman to win
an Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for her role as 'Annalise DeWitt'
in Shonda Rhimes's ABC drama How to Get Away with Murder.
SINCE ITS INCEPTION IN THE LATE 1940’s,
St. Philip's has been a ministry entrusted to spread God's love and light throughout
the South Dallas community. The school serves children ages 2–12 and continues
to lay a solid foundation of academic excellence and community service,
repeatedly producing compassionate, confident and capable servant leaders
for tomorrow. The Community Center blesses the lives of the elderly, youth, and
neighbors in a myriad of impactful ways. For them, St. Philip's is a safe haven,
a place for recreation, an open cupboard, and a resource for quality, low-cost
educational programs. This unique service model allows St. Philip's to be a great
steward of volunteer commitment and robust collaborations that bring dignified
social services and programming – at minimal cost – to South Dallas.
St. Philip's challenges us to become all that God wants us to be. There is a
common phrase at St. Philip's: “If it is to be, it's up to me."

HONORING THE 2016 HUMANITARIAN AWARD RECIPIENTS
Abby & Todd Williams
The Destiny Awards is an annual luncheon benefiting St. Philip’s
School and Community Center. This year’s luncheon celebrates
70 Years of Ministry, Education, & Service where we will recognize
our first Humanitarian Award recipient. The award is given to a
leader who has demonstrated exceptional work between diverse
communities. The Williams’ work exemplifies the importance of
embracing the belief in the oneness of humankind in which the
destiny of the world is linked.
