CELSO ESPEJO RONDALLA
The Celso Espejo Rondalla is composed of three generations of outstanding rondalla
players: the senior members are professionals in their chosen fields while the younger
ones are college students. The members were winners in the National Music
Competitions for the Young Artists (NAMCYA). The group was named after Maestro
Celso Espejo, the group's conductor and one of the pillars of the Philippine Rondalla.

CITIZEN’S BRIGADE BAND OF DASMARINAS, CAVITE
The Citizens’ Brigade Band of Dasmarinas (Cavite, Philippines) is
one of the umbrella organizations formed under the Citizens’
Brigade of Dasmarinas, a non-government and non-profit
organization composed of civic minded citizens of Dasmarinas,
Cavite, Philippines.
Citizens’ Brigade of Dasmarinas (CBD) gathered various musicians
from Dasmarinas to teach music, aiming to develop musical skills
and abilities among the youth , as well as to take them away from
vices.
Their elaborate and colorful costumes, which later became its signature, combined with
extraordinary marching skills and tone quality proved to be hard to beat.

DAWANI WOMEN’S CHOIR
The Dawani Women's Choir is the first resident all-female choir of
the UP College of Music. It was formed in January 2013 through
the initiative of its conductor Dr. Beverly Shangkuan-Cheng and a
select group of music students. On March 8 2013, the group made
its debut in the concert "The Road Home" at Abelardo Hall.
With a growing membership base and promising musical potential,
the group aims to explore textures and repertoire that will give
them a niche of their own in the Philippine choral world.

The group is composed of 34 students from the different
colleges who strive to promote appreciation for choral music,

GUIGUIL
GuiGuil (Guitar Guild) – the group formed only on February of 2013, is mainly
composed of Guitar concentration and minor students in the UP College of Music,
students from the UP College of Music Extension Program, and students from other
colleges of UP Diliman like Architecture and Physics.
The group aims to foster the ensemble playing experience of the members, develop
musicality and sight-reading skills while also being a laboratory ensemble for arrangers,
composers, and conductors and for the guitar methods class. Guiguil offers a wide
range of repertoire from pop music all the way to baroque music. Most of which are
specially arranged by the members for the group.

KABATAANG GITARISTA:
HIGH SCHOOL CLASSICAL GUITARISTS IN PERFORMANCE
The Kabataang Gitarista (KG) is a group of talented high
school students currently being trained in classical guitar.
The students who come from schools in Manila, Pasay and
Paranaque receive free classical guitar training every
Saturday morning under the tutelage of eminent guitar
pedagogue Maestro Jose Valdez. The program is under
the supervision of the Artist Training Division, Cultural
Center of the Philippines.
The program was organized to promote appreciation for,
and interest in classical guitar performance among public
high school students; to provide the highest level of classical guitar training free of
charge; as well as to develop a performing classical guitar ensemble.
The Kabataang Gitarista, which was organized in August 2012, has performed at the
Cultural Center of the Philippines, in selected schools, and for private events.

The Manila Symphony Orchestra (MSO) is one of the first orchestras established in
Asia and is currently the most vibrant and active symphony orchestra in the Philippines.
It is presently based at the St. Scholastica’s College School of Music and is composed

Ukulele Underground Philippines (UUP) was founded September of 2010. There were
talks in an online forum in Ukulele Underground, a prominent US-based Ukulele Group
aimed at evangelizing the whole world of the joy of Ukulele Playing of forming a
Philippine-based Ukulele counterpart. After some discussion, the first members of UUP
met on the grounds of University of the Philippines in Diliman inside the Bahay ng
Alumni. Days after that fun meeting, UUP acquired approval from the Ukulele

The University of the Philippines Rondalla is an official performing group of the Music
Education Department of the U.P. College of Music. The group was founded and

UP SYMPHONIC BAND
The UP Symphonic Band is a laboratory class for winds and percussion students
of the College.
It also serves as the training ground for the band conducting majors as well as an
extension service training to young instrumentalists within and outside the University.
The U.P. Symphonic Band emerged from the U.P.-Philippine Youth Symphonic Band in
1986 -where a small wind ensemble expanded and adopted its name. It has performed
in various concerts in U.P. and other venues around Metro Manila.

UNIVERSITY OF THE PHILIPPINES TUGTUGANG MUSIKA
The UP Tugtugang Musika Asyatika (UP TUGMA) is the
premiere organization of Asian music student-performers
in the country, affiliated with the UP College of Music
Department of Musicology. Its main goals are: 1) to build
and develop a more conscious audience base for Asian
music and culture that has deep awareness of these
traditions; and 2) to raise the banner of Philippine
indigenous music to the global community. In line with
these goals, the organization regularly conducts
workshops, field works, and performance nights. The
members of the organization studies and performs the
Mindanao Kulintang Ensemble, the Cordillera Bamboo and Gong Ensemble, the
Indonesian Gamelan, the Japanese Koto, the Chinese Sizhu and the Korean Samulnori.

UST SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA
As a resident performing group of the
Cultural Center of the Philippines, the
orchestra performs regularly at the
CCP.
Presently, the UST Symphony
Orchestra has a membership of 70
students, many of whom were prize
winners of national music competitions
such as NAMCYA while other members
have either qualified for scholarships
abroad or have participated in summer
camps held in the ASEAN countries
and in Australia such as SAYOWE. A
good numbers of these instrumentalists
had stints in world-class youth
ensembles, the ASEAN Youth
Orchestra and the World Youth
Orchestra.

UNIVERSITY OF PERPETUAL HELP DLTA CHORALE
The University of Perpetual Help Chorale,
formerly known as the UPHSD Singing
Ensemble, is the official chorale group of
the University of Perpetual Help System
DALTA Las Piñas. It is composed of
student-artists from various colleges of the
university. It aims to propagate, preserve
and develop Philippine culture and arts
through music. The UPHChorale performs
different genres of choral pieces such as
Broadway, Classical, Foreign and Local
Folk songs, Philippine Ethnic Songs, Contemporary Music, OPM and Sacred Music.
UPHChorale will continue to pursue its goals and make a significant contribution in the
area of arts and Philippine culture.
