The Joey’s View St Joseph’s Catholic School Queen Street, Oberon NSW 2787 T: 02 6336 1384 E: [email protected] Principal ‘s Message 6th November 2014 CALENDAR Dear Parents & Carers, Congratulations to our Year 9 students who participated in a High Ropes course last week as part of the leadership development. Those students who participated gained a lot from the experience. I commend them for their bravery. I don’t think I would have been able to complete the activities they undertook – taking a leap of faith from such great heights. Their teamwork and support of each other was commendable. Our next session of Jump into Joeys will be next Monday. The pre-kinders will be participating in an afternoon session as part of their transition program to school next year. This will be followed by a full day program on November 24. Next Tuesday is Remembrance Day. All students from Year 2 to Year 10 will be attending the ceremony at the war memorial. Please ensure students are dressed in their full school uniform on the day. VET students have been advised to bring their work uniforms to school and change for lessons. A reminder that secondary exams will be held from 19 – 21 November. Please be mindful that our secondary students may need some extra TLC over the next few weeks as they prepare for these exams. Could any parents who have not returned swimming permission notes please do so by next Monday as numbers need to be confirmed and final arrangements made with the pool. May you travel peacefully through the week, Donna Maxsted Term 4, 2014 Week 6 Mon 10th November -Jump into Joey’s Tue 11th November -Remembrance Day Fri 14th November -Yrs 1/2 Zoo Excursion Week 7 Wed 19th November - Secondary Exams begin Week 8 Mon 24th November -Jump into Joey’s Week 9 Tue 2nd December -First Reconciliation Week 10 Thu 11th December -Grad Mass 10am Fri 12th December -Grad Dinner Week 11 Tue 16th December -P&F Dinner IF YOU WISH TO RECEIVE YOUR JOEY’S VIEW NEWSLETTER VIA EMAIL, PLEASE LEAVE YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS AT THE SCHOOL OFFICE. Page 2 St Joseph’s Catholic School RE News Please join World Vision in praying for the people in West Africa whose lives are affected by the devastating Ebola disease. Pray for those suffering from Ebola and for their family and friends. There is no known cure for Ebola, but people who are diagnosed and seek skilled medical treatment early have a chance to recover. Dear Lord, You healed bodies, minds, and spirits during your ministry. We ask Your healing power to be manifest to the girls and boys, women and men whose lives are threatened by the outbreak of Ebola in West Africa. May they receive the treatment they need for their bodies to fight the infection. May they know the comfort and assurance of Your presence. May those who grieve the loss of loved ones find their hope in You. Amen First Reconciliation First Reconciliation - Tuesday December 2 at 6.00pm. This course allowed students to challenge themselves by stepping outside of their comfort zones and onto the high ropes course, all whilst in the safe hands of their peers who were in control of their safety rope from the ground. All of the students challenged themselves significantly and should be commended on their positive efforts over the three days, both on the ground and up on the ropes. We can already see the benefits of the range of skills they have learnt as a part of this course, keep up the good work!
