Big Brother Big Sisters of San Diego is looking for active duty and civilian
volunteers for our Operation Bigs program which takes place on all 5
elementary schools on Camp Pendleton. In our program, the Big
Brother and Big Sister volunteers meet with their Little Brothers and
Little Sisters for one hour one day a week (times and dates are the same
every week) at the child’s school site. During that hour the Big and
Little matches do activities such as play board games, do arts and crafts
projects, or just run around outside, playing ball, throwing Frisbees,
jumping rope, and other fun activities! These are the days and times we
meet each week during the school year
The Fisher House provides a "home away from home" at no cost for
families of patients admitted for medical care at the Naval Hospital
Camp Pendleton or affiliated medical centers. We offer comfortably
furnished rooms with bathrooms, fully equipped kitchen, living, dining,
laundry and play rooms. The home provides free temporary lodging so
military families can be close to their loved ones during a medical crisis.
Fisher House is available to families of active duty, retired and veterans
from all services including the National Guard and Coast Guard. Our
Fisher House has a full-time staff but depends on volunteers and
voluntary support to enhance daily operations and program expansion.
Please consider volunteering your time to help our courageous service
members and their families.

There are a lot of chores to do there and only a few volunteers. The
animals have to be cared for whether volunteers show up or not, and
many of the current volunteers are seniors. They often find it difficult
to stay to a regular schedule. Most of the chores involve cleaning and
washing, not the most exciting type of chore, but one that is required
daily. Dog walking would also be helpful.
