FJORD1 is one of the largest regional sea transport operators in Norway
We operate in the beautiful fjord country of western Norway
We are 2500 dedicated employees
We operate 84 ferries and fast ferries
We operate 550 buses and trailers
In 2006 we transported in total more than 26 million passengers, more
than 5 times the Norwegian population, and in total 7 million vehicles on
our ferries.
Why LNG?

The pilot LNG-ferry ”Glutra” proved to be an operational
success for more than 6 years.

Ferry connections can be a tool to build up an infrastructure

two of the largest ferry connections out for competition

Fjord1 was awarded licences for both ferry connections

All five ferries will carry a mix of
vehicles within a 212 carequivalent limit, and up to 590
passengers, but will be powered
for different service speeds. Three
of them are to have a total of
12,370kW of engine power,
provided by two Bergen KVGS16G4 engines each of 3,535kW
and two KVGS-12G4 units each
rated at 2,650kW, to give a
service speed of 21 knots. Only
17knots is required of the other
pair of ferries on the ArsvågenMortavika route, so they will be
equipped with just two of the
same model of 12-cylinder
engines.
Environmental issues
Fjord1 calculate
with a consumption of 26.000 tons of LNG.
Compared to baseline (similar production powered by diesel) we will have
