INSIDE LOOK AT THE ONCOLOGY
INFUSION CENTER:
Providing Oncology Infusion Services at CCMH for
over 25 years, the department is staffed by registered nurses with Oncology Nursing Society
Certification and Training in chemotherapy and
biotherapy administration.
They work with patients, their physicians and
their families to help the patient maintain their
quality of life and find the best way to live with
and beyond cancer.
The outpatient chemotherapy program is designed to allow cancer patients the choice to
receive their care and treatments close to home.
Dr. Wysokinska earned her Medical Degree from
Wroclaw Medical University in Wroclaw, Poland. She
completed her residency with Abott Northwestern
Hospital in Minneapolis, MN and completed her Hematology/Medical Oncology Fellowship in the Department of Oncology at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN.
A hematologist—oncologist is a physician who specializes in the diagnosis, treatment and/or prevention of blood diseases and cancers such as irondeficiency anemia, hemophilia, sickle-cell disease,
leukemia and lymphoma. She is trained in hematology
(the study of blood) and oncology (the study of cancer).
Oncology certified nurses give skilled, compassionate, personalized care to patients during
their treatment. They help educate patients and
families about their disease and treatment including practical information about taking care of
themselves at home before during and after
treatments.
Infusions can take up to several hours to administer; the center is designed to provide the best
patient-centered care and comfort in a relaxing,
supportive environment providing for patient
privacy including treatment chairs with heat and
massage, personal televisions, hugs, warm
blankets, beverages, and snacks.
The infusion center is open Monday through
Friday from 8:00am-4:00 pm with flexible
scheduling to meet the patients needs.
