UK EXAM RESULTS ARE IN!
Key Stage 1, Key Stage 2 & Common Entrance examinations are a direct comparison of
student academic performance with those in the UK state and independent system, at
ages 7, 11 and 13, respectively. We are proud to announce that this year’s results are
truly outstanding; and surpass the academic standards set by our British counterparts.
At Key Stage 1 in Maths we achieved a 94% pass rate with 58% of pupils achieving
ABOVE the age-expected level set for 7 year olds in the UK. In English Reading we had a
97% pass rate, with 67% of pupils scoring ABOVE age-expected level. In Writing 89% of
pupils passed and 11% achieved ABOVE age-expected level. At Key Stage 2 we secured
a100% pass rate in both Maths and English, with an impressive 54% and 66% of pupils
achieving ABOVE the age-expected level for 11 year olds in UK, in Maths and English,
respectively. At Common Entrance our pupils achieved the STRONGEST RESULTS IN
OUR SCHOOL’S HISTORY! 94% of all papers written, across 7 different subjects received
a grade of C or above, 57% of which earned a grade of A! Congratulations to all of our
pupils and their Teachers on achieving these truly impressive results!

FORM 3 WORK PLACEMENT DAY
On 19 June, our Form 3 students went to work! As part of our
Guidance & Careers Counselling programme, students chose
from a list of host organisations and spent the day observing
and experiencing what a typical day in their chosen field is like.
This programme seeks to expose students to the academic and
practical requirements of their desired profession, as well as
assist them to better understand the link between the subjects
they study in school and their possible future careers. Many
thanks to our host institutions for their kind participation: The
African Regent Hotel, Vodafone Ghana, Citadel Clinic, Bethel
Dental Clinic, Databank, GT Bank, Insel Communications, CharterHouse Productions, Labadi Beach Hotel, Lithur & Co.,Nature
Conservation Research Centre, and GTG Energy.
SENIOR SCHOOL DEBATES & ENGLISH QUIZ
On 20-21 June 2012, our English Department hosted
a series of activities and debates for our Senior School
students. Form 3 East faced off against Form 3 West
in a quiz competition. This was followed by exciting
debates between Form 4 students (Motion: Ghana
has achieved middle income status) and Lower Six
students (Motion: Africa alone must be blamed for
her food insufficiency). We eagerly await the rematch, which is set to take place next term!

SPEECH & PRIZE GIVING DAY
On 25 June 2012, our school community gathered to honour and recognise the talents, gifts, abilities and character of our pupils. Over the
course of the year, pupils worked closely with their Teachers to learn
new things, develop skills and build the confidence they need to
grow, achieve and pursue excellence in all that they do. Together, we
celebrated their achievements and their journey, not only with awards
and prizes, but also through various performances that showcased our
children’s tremendous gifts and talents. Members of our Academic
Board of Governors distributed prizes to pupils and we were honoured to have Mr. Geoffrey Allen (Founding Principal) close our programme with his inspirational words of wisdom. Speech & Prize Giving
Day was all about fun, learning, and all things Roman Ridge School!
