By: Peggy Porter
School: Mohonasen High School
Room: 60
Fee: R & NR $25 per class
Length: 1 night per painting (6:00 -9:30)
Skill Level: All – Beginners welcome
Have you ever wanted to try oil painting? Are you afraid
you can’t paint because you can’t draw? WELCOME to
“Paint with Peggy”! In each class you will create an oil
painting. Peggy is a certified Alexander Art Instructor
and Wilson Bickford Painting Partner. Each evening the
student creates a complete oil painting usually based on
a Wilson Bickford design. These classes do not require
drawing skills, and they are also NOT paint-by-number.
At the beginning of class every student is provided with
a blank canvas, brushes, palette of paints, etc. Then,
through classroom instruction, each person creates their
own, unique oil painting. Any level of painter will enjoy
the classes. Look at photographs of the paintings at:
www.paintwithpeggy.com and select which classes you
want to attend. Try it! It’s FUN! Peggy can be contacted
by email at [email protected] or phone at
925-2238.
September 13th: Hay Bales – Students will capture
the feeling of fall as they paint round bales in a cut hay
field. Students will learn how to shade and highlight
a cylinder (the hay bale) to make it look threedimensional. Beginners are welcome!. I suggest you
bring a box (like a pizza box) to carry. SUPPLY FEE:
$20.00 (to be collected in class).
October 4th: Stream in the Woods – You will feel the
stillness in the woods and want to sit on the bank of the
stream. Using acrylic and oil paints, students are able to
create depth in the woods by painting distant misty trees
and a stream disappearing into the woods. SUPPLY
FEE: $20.00 (to be collected in class).
November 1st: Horse on a Hill – Winter Pasture - This
is a painting of a horse silhouetted against a sunrise in a
snowy pasture. The contrast between the dark horse and
the light of the sunrise create quite a dramatic painting!
Horse patterns are available, if desired. SUPPLY FEE:
$20.00 (to be collected in class).
December 6th: Moonlight Skate- The moonlit
sky creates a pretty background for the skaters.
This is a monochromatic painting so color value is
important. Students can chose to use blues or purples

BEGINNER HULA HOOPING/HULA HOOP FITNESS
By: Michelle Guzzo
School: Pinewood Intermediate School
Room: Gym
Fee: R & NR $50
Length: 5 weeks: 9/14, 9/21, 9/28, 10/5 & 10/19
(6:00-7:00PM)
I bet you’ve heard about the health benefits of hula
hooping, including the potential for some serious weight
loss. It is probably the most fun and most effective core
exercise you could do. Haven’t hula hooped since you
were a kid? Or maybe you were never able to do it no
matter how hard you tried. The secret to being able to
hula hoop is finding the right size/weight to begin with.
The hula hoops available at department stores are very
small and light...which makes them very difficult to
keep up. Larger and heavier hoops move slower and are
therefore so much easier to use. For this class i will have
a large variety of hoop sizes and weights for you to find
one that you can keep up. For some people the water
weighted ones are easiest, and for others it just has to be
a nice big hoop with no water. Once you have the basic
hooping down, we can work on hooping in the opposite
direction, and some other moves that can be applied into
a hula hoop workout routine. My sister will be helping me
teach the hoop class so we will be able to branch off and
accommodate how people will learn at a different pace in
the beginning and work towards doing a nice hoop fitness
routine as a whole group. Hula hoops will also be available
for purchase, including me taking custom design orders
for your size preference! Everyone who joins the class
will also receive a $10 discount that can be used on the
purchase of one of our lovely light up LED hula hoops. WEDNESDAY

You wouldn’t believe how beautiful the flow art of hula
hooping has gotten over the years. Avid hula hoopers refer
to the hoop as the ‘sacred circle’. Hula hoop dance is used
as an expression of one’s inner beauty. The social media
hooping community is flooded with so many inspirational
stories about how people have used hooping to
defeat anxiety, depression, drug/alcohol/cigarette addictions,
of people have lost a ton of weight, people who have had
their lives changed by falling in love with this form of flow
art. My sister and I will use this class to teach you some
basic hula hoop dance/tricks that you can start to flow
more gracefully and beautifully with. We can accommodate
different learning paces as well. Once you start to move like
this there is a very good chance you will be hooked. You will
learn to feel confident. sexy, and beautiful within your circle.
