Candian Tire JumpStart
Program
As you may be aware, GCWCC is one of five Winnipeg organizations that belong to the Canadian Tire Jumpstart Program. The Jumpstart program supports programs and program development in our community, providing in-need
children the opportunity to participate in registered sport and recreation.
We wish to express our sincere thanks to the Canadian Tire Jumpstart program for their generous grant to the Norquay Community Centre, host of the North End/North Point Douglas Hockey Program. Their grant paid for the registration fees for 72 children between the ages of 4 – 10 who are excited to be able to play organized hockey!
And more good news!
A huge thank you to the WORLD JUNIOR HOCKEY WINNIPEG LEGACY FUND for their generous support to the Norquay Community Centre Hockey Program. They came through in a big way to support the practice time fees for this
program. Who knows? The funders may be providing the opportunity for a future NHL star!
Thank you on behalf of seventy-two happy hockey players!
GCWCC Welcomes our New Community
Centre Program Coordinator
Welcome to our newest staff member, Bob Gingras, who will be joining
our staff on January 10th, 2011, as the GCWCC Community Centre Program Coordinator. Bob comes with a wealth of knowledge, having
been involved with community centres and other service providers for
many years. Bob will work with Community Centres to evaluate existing programming, assess programming needs, identify new programming opportunities through partnerships, etc., and develop strategies
for program implementation and sustainability.
GCWCC hopes to attend the District Board meetings in January 2011,
at which time you can meet Bob (for those few who don’t know him!)
and learn more about his role. We know Bob will be a valuable addition
to the GCWCC staff.

LINDEN WOODS
STURGEON HEIGHTS
Linden Woods CC was last to get funding, but construction was quick
out of the gates and is scheduled for spring completion.
SINCLAIR PARK
A brand new community centre is being erected directly behind
the existing Rita St. facility which will be demolished in the next
few months.
WINAKWA
Although part of Sinclair Park CC is being re-used, you won’t recognize the building when it is done!
SOUTHDALE
The construction site is currently shrouded in tarps, but within a

unveiled!
Construction on the second arena, pleasure skating rink, dressing
