ummer is right around the corner. Longer days, road trips, sand castles,
lemonade stands, ice cream trucks, vacations, flip flops, kite flying, pool
parties, water balloon fights, and camping at the beach: whatever summer
means to you, every summer has a story. This summer, Kings Bay offers
plenty of memory making events to fill chapter after chapter. Here’s your guide
to summer fun around Kings Bay.

16 • 7:15 am, Run for the Fallen 5K at the Fitness Complex. This 5K is the start
of the Run for the Fallen collaborate effort to honor those who have paid the
ultimate sacrifice during Operation Enduring Freedom, Operation Iraqi
Freedom, Operation New Dawn, Operation Inherent Resolve, and Operation
Freedom Sentinel. Each command will be challenged to run a combined 6,850
miles: one mile for every fallen service member since 2001. The program will
end with a memorial 5K on August 12.
18 • 7 pm – 10:30 pm, Sundae Splash Zone and Dive-In Movie at the Fitness
Complex Aquatics Center. FREE ice cream sundaes from 7 – 9 pm. ootopia

The first week of July, MWR will unveil the newly renovated Community
Recreation Activities Building, aka ‘The CRAB.’ This multifunction recreation
facility will offer a full array of activities for everyone in the community. Here’s a
sneak peak of what you’ll find when you visit The CRAB: Ticket & Travel Office,
Outdoor Rental reservations, indoor playground, movie viewing room, childrens
library, birthday party rooms, visual imagination discovery room, video gaming
centers, and much more.

Teen Program
The MWR Teen Program is the perfect place for students to hang
out, independent from their parents, and just be teens. Teens (ages
13-18, and still in high school) stay engaged through a variety of
educational and recreational activities: field trips, iPads, musical
instruments, video gaming, and more. Don’t worry parents, getting
ready for the real world is also on the agenda through money
management courses and college prep classes. They’ll even have
access to job opportunities through the Teen Employment Program.

Campus Tours 2016
June 6-10
Choosing the right college begins with having the right information at the right time. High school
students and parents are invited to take an exciting five-day, June 6-10, tour of 10 colleges and universities in six different cities around the State of Georgia. Open to military high school students
(active-duty and retiree dependents). $250 non-refundable registration fee, per person, includes
transportation and lodging. Register at the Youth Center by June 3. Locations include Emory University, Georgia State University, Kennesaw State
University, Morehouse College, Spelman College, University of

Parks and Playgrounds
Play and picnic at MWR's many parks and playgrounds. Keep both
big and little kids active with age-appropriate playgrounds. Picnic
hosts will love the large covered pavilions complete with everything
you need to pull off the perfect picnic. The OAC manages four
picnic, park, and camping areas: Etowah Park (near the golf course),
Under the Pines (with playground), Otter’s Cove and Lakeview,
located on Lake D adjacent to the Eagle Hammock RV Park.

Swim Lessons
Registration is ongoing and ends the first day of each session. $40 per person. No refunds will be given except for medical
emergencies. Descriptions of skills taught in each level are available at the Fitness Complex Customer Service counter to assist
parents in selecting the proper class level for their child. Swim lessons will run as 2 week sessions consisting of 8, 30 minute,
group classes held Monday - Thursday. Each class must have a minimum of 6 registered students.. Private Lessons, offered in

Run for the Fallen 5K at the Fitness Complex.
June 16, 7:15 am. This 5K is the start of the Run for the
Fallen collaborate effort to honor those who have paid the
ultimate sacrifice during Operation Enduring Freedom,
Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation New Dawn, Operation
Inherent Resolve, and Operation Freedom Sentinel. Each
command will be challenged to run a combined 6,850 miles:
one mile for every fallen service member since 2001. The
program will end with a memorial 5K on August 12.
