STUDENTS AT PITT STATE participate in a variety of programs that aid in the first-year transition and
enhance and promote the educational experience in the first-year and beyond.
STUDENT SUCCESS
CENTER
The most challenging time for
college students is transitioning
to their new environment. The
staff in the Student Success
Center serves as advocates
to all undergraduate students,
but especially to freshman
and transfer students in their
first year at PSU. The Student
Success Center is focused
on assisting students with the
social, personal, and academic
adjustments needed for a
successful transition to Pitt
State.
PITT C.A.R.E.S.,
FRESHMAN EXPERIENCE
AND TRANSITIONS
Admitted students and
their families attend the Pitt
C.A.R.E.S. orientation program.
Once on campus, freshmen
will participate in both Gorilla
Warm-up and Freshman
22
Experience. The Freshman
Experience course is designed
to prepare students to succeed
both in and after college. Transfer
students may take Transitions, a
course designed to provide transfer
students the opportunity to interact
with students who are sharing in
their same experiences and to
introduce students to PSU. A variety
of programs and services are
introduced during both courses.
STUDY ABROAD
The world is a great classroom and
students are encouraged to go out
to experience it for themselves. The
Study Abroad Program consists of
trips that are from a few weeks long
to ones that can last an academic
year. Destinations include France,
Spain, the United Kingdom, Finland,
Australia, South Korea, Peru, Costa
Rica, Malta, Argentina, Russia and
Germany. Students who participate
in our Study Abroad program
regularly come home saying, “it
changed my life!”
Pitt State is dedicated to your success!
STUDENT SUCCESS
BUILDING COMMUNITY
The Office of Student Diversity
hosts several culturally enriching
programs and activities
throughout the academic year.
Understanding the value and
importance of diversity on the
campus of PSU, this office
strives to educate and celebrate
our differences. Students
work closely with the office,
participating in workshops,
retreats, cultural heritage
celebrations, and other
activities.
STUDENT HEALTH
AND WELLNESS

Center promotes the health and
well-being of students in order
to enhance their educational
experience. The Bryant Student
