success through the downturn. We will be using results from several recent
studies, including our annual industry housing survey with Wood &Wood Products magazine (starting in 2008) We also will briefly discuss the current state
of the U.S. housing market, as well as trends in the U.S. woodworking industry
and manufacturers’ perceptions of recent market conditions.

Damage to your project is almost unavoidable at some level. It can occur in the
white but especially after it has been finished. You either fix that damage in shop
or build a new component depending on your level of skills of repairing. If damage
occurs after the object is installed, replacement becomes more costly, so onsite
repair is the only other option. Repairing nicks, dents, scratches, nail holes, gouges and other surface blemishes will be covered. You need to learn the techniques
of filling the void, how to color that filler with color matching skills, create a faux
finish with grain lines and then protect your repair with the correct coating. Mitch
will show you what products are available to you and the procedures to accomplish
the repair. Other related problems such as matching sapwood to heart wood and
repairing faded colors from sunlight will be covered.
