Our Mission Statement
Holy Spirit is a community of believers that aspires to be formed by the
values of the Gospel and finds its strength in coming together to celebrate
Eucharist and to be transformed into the Body of Christ. As a Eucharistic
People, we who are being nourished must share the bread we have with
others, wash the feet of our brothers and sisters and welcome all who
come, as Christ Himself.

“Whoever sacrifices to any god,
save to the Lord only, shall be
utterly destroyed.” – Exodus 22:20
Do you put other “gods” before
God? Is your love of money,
power, status or some personal
possession greater than your love
for God? If so, you may want to
pay attention to the scripture
reading because you are not going
to like the outcome. The good
news – it’s not too late to put God
first in your life.
Please see the bulletin board in the
Narthex for pictures of our newest
Parish Members. Be sure to say
“hello” to them at Mass. If you are a
new member and did not get your
picture taken at our August brunch,
please stop by the office to request a
photo or plan to attend the NEW
MEMBER brunch today, October
26th, when we will take new photos.
The Communion of Saints
As baptized Christians, we are part of a vast family known as
the Communion of Saints. Each year the Church honors those who
have gone before us in faith, especially those whose brave and
unwavering witness to the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit has
inspired us to live a life more committed to the Triune God.
Catholics do not pray to these men and women who have lived
faith filled lives while here on earth; rather we pray through them.
These saints are our great prayer partners – people praying for the
needs of others. In the present, the prayers of the saints are for us,
that we will come to know our Savior Jesus Christ, and not be afraid to
conform our lives while here on earth to do the will of God. This is the
true vocation of all, to be a saintly people.
We believe that our final destiny is to be with the God who
created us. When the soul unites with the Creator, only then will it be
at true peace. The Church refers to this as the Beatific Vision: to be
with God and to see Him face to face.
Presently there are 3 stages of the Kingdom, i.e. 3 stages of
the Mystical Body of Christ:
1. The Church Militant: We who live on earth. We are not yet in
heaven; therefore we pray that our souls will one day be there, and not
be judged to hell.
2. The Church Triumphant: Our brothers and sisters who have died
and whose souls are already in heaven for eternity. Their bodies will
be resurrected gloriously and join their souls at the Second Coming of
Christ. At present, the only ones in heaven with body and soul are
Jesus and the Blessed Mother.
3. The Church Purifying: Those who have died and are in purgatory.
They will go to heaven after they have been totally purified.
All members of the 3 stages of the Church live in the same
Body of Christ. Those in heaven already, the angels and saints, can
help us. We are called to pray for our brothers and sisters in purgatory.
Jesus told the good thief, “I tell you the truth, today you will be with me
in paradise” (Luke 23:43)…and for sure, He is not alone in Heaven;
Peter and Paul are with Him, and of course our Blessed Mother and
millions of saints. John wrote in the Book of Revelation: “After this I
looked, and there before me was a great multitude that no one could
count, from every nation, tribe, people, and language standing before
the throne and in front of the Lamb (Rev. 7:9).
On Nov. 1 and 2, we celebrate All Saints Day and All Souls
Day. Especially in these very Holy Days, we the Church Militant, ask
for the saints’ intercessions, and we assure those in the Church
Purifying our prayers. Together we are the Body of Christ.
Have you remembered Holy Spirit in your will?

first reading, God calls the people to a higher
standard. God has been compassionate to others.
Second Reading, 1 Thessalonians 1:5c-10, In the
second reading, Paul reminds the people that they
joyfully received the gospel even though it involved
great affliction. He compliments them because their

DIRECTOR of SCHOOL OF RELIGION
School of Religion
November 1st - Solemnity of All Saints
"It is not merely by the title of example that we cherish the
memory of those in heaven; we seek, rather, that by this
devotion to the exercise of fraternal charity the union of the
whole Church in the Spirit may be strengthened. Exactly as
Christian communion among our fellow pilgrims brings us closer to Christ, so
our communion with the saints joins us to Christ, from whom as from its fountain and head issues all grace, and the life of the People of God itself:
We worship Christ as God's
Son; we love the martyrs as
the Lord's disciples and imitators, and rightly so because of
their matchless devotion towards their king and master.
May we also be their companions and fellow disciples!”
