Creation of Query
• Give each query a unique name
• Drag desired fields to right
• Add any rules to select certain elements
automatically
– No rules = all elements on report
• Drag any fields over for sorting
– Double click field to change sort order

• Can perform calculations on data

• List Style – matches format of most WindMil
default reports
– Each element is a row on report
• Form Style – each record is it’s own page
– Use for reports where a lot of data is needed for
each element

• Band – horizontal break on the report
• Bands are required and determine what data
shows up where on the report

Detail – Printed for each element
Group – Splits elements into groups based on

• Summary – Bottom of last page
• Page Footer – Bottom of each page
General Options
• Note Columns on each page is number of times to repeat all columns
• Use Landscape for more than 6 data fields

Adding Bands
• Click button and click on bottom area of
report to add a band
Generic Band
• Set band type after adding to report
Group Header Band
• Creates groups of records
• Band printed at beginning of group
• Useful for calculations based on common
attribute
Group Header Setup
• Group by Field or Expression
• Use “+” to group by multiple fields
Expressions
• Insert expression into band to sum, count,
average, etc
• Very similar to Excel
• Example - SUM(ModelQueryTable.Thru Kw)
• Can be copied and pasted, just change field
name (Thru Kw)
Tips and Tricks
• Show summary only data by shrinking detail
band
– Right Click band, choose options, set Height to 0
• Field Alignment
– Shift click multiple fields, use green buttons to
align fields
Resizing
• Use grab points to resize fields and bands
Print Preview
• Displays data from model on report
• Executes all expressions
• Allows report to be printed
– Can print to PDF with a PDF printer driver installed
• No text file output
Managing Queries and Reports
• Can be copied to other computers
– Query – C:\Milsoft\WindMil\Programs\Queries
– Report - C:\Milsoft\WindMil\Programs\Custom Reports
