Synopsis of Minutes of Regular Meeting of the
Board of Education
Tuesday, January 22, 2013 – 6:05 pm – Room
201, 2nd Floor Chairperson
Doten called the meeting to order at 6:05 pm with
members DeWitt, Doten, Jackson, Kulju, Orbeck
and Sorensen present. Kruse was absent. Also
present were Superintendent / Elementary Principal
Grams, High School Principal Staska, Business
Manager Dalchow and other interested parties.
DeWitt made a motion, seconded by Sorensen to
approve the agenda with an addition. All voted in
favor and the motion carried unanimously.
Comments and requests from visitors: Open to Tribal
Officials & parents of Indian children
DeWitt made a motion seconded by Orbeck to approve the consent agenda. All voted in favor and the
motion carried unanimously.

DeWitt/Sorensen made a motion to approve Policy
#624 with no revisions. All voted and the motion
carried. DeWitt/Kulju made a motion to approve
the 2013-2014 School Calendar. All voted and the
motion carried.
Kulju/Orbeck made a motion to approve Cheryl
Meld as Student Support Programs Coordinator
at $3,150 for salary and benefits each year for 2
years, effective January 1, 2013. All voted and the
motion carried.
Orbeck/DeWitt made a motion to approve the leave
request for Robin Hawkinson. All voted and the
motion carried.
Superintendent / Elementary Principal reported on
the Teacher In-service in Esko on January 21st, and
difficulties with the buses.
High School Principal reported on the In-service in
Esko and students transferring into McGregor and
the comparison of credits to other local schools.
Board Members reported on gym use during games,
Meet and Confer Meeting in January, and the School
Board Conference in January.

FOLLOWING COMMITTEE:
Extension Committee – Term is for three years
Commissioner District 3 (one opening) – City:
McGrath; Townships: Beaver, Glen, Idun, Kimberly,
Lakeside, Lee, Millward North, Millward South, Pliny,
Rice River, Salo, Seavey, Spalding, Wagner, White
Pine, Williams; Unorg Townships: 47-24, 45-24.
Responsible for overseeing the County Extension
Department. County Extension covers the areas of
nutrition and youth leadership development, including the 4-H program. Meetings are held quarterly.
Committee members receive a per diem and mileage reimbursement for each meeting. Terms run
from January 2013 through December 31, 2015.
Applications are being accepted until Noon on
February 15, 2013.
