Works Department is recruiting
for the position of Water Systems Operator III to perform a
variety of semi-skilled work
and operate a variety of tools
in the construction, operation,
repair, maintenance and replacement of City water, geothermal, natural gas, streets
and storm drainage facilities.
Educational requirements include completion of formal or
informal education sufficient to
assure the ability to read and
write at a level required for
successful job performance
and a minimum of eight years
hands on experience in construction, maintenance and repair procedures of a water and
geothermal system. Required
licenses or certificates include:
valid California Drivers License
and/or be able to acquire a
Class A certification within 6
months; Water Distribution Operator Grade II Certificate from
the California State Department of Health Services; Backflow Prevention Assembly
Tester Certificate from the University of Southern California's
cross-connection control foundation; and completion of a
FED OSHA Excavation Training Class pursuant to 29 CFR
1926 Subpart P Excavation
and Trenches. This position is
eligible for participation in random drug testing compliance
program as mandated by the
Federal Motor Carrier Safety
Administration (FMCSA) program. Hourly salary range:
$17.59 - $23.57 (determined
by city based on qualifications)
