FILMMAKER ON THE EDGE:
HARMONY KORINE
Presented by the Coolidge Corner Theatre Foundation
Once hailed as “the future of American cinema” by Werner Herzog,
writer/director Harmony Korine arrived on the scene, at age 19, as the
screenwriter of KIDS (1995). With a vast, varied body of work, he’s since
proven himself as one of the most controversial, independent filmmakers
working today. Select filmography: GUMMO (1997), JULIEN DONKEY-BOY
(1999), SPRING BREAKERS (2012). In conversation with writer/director
John Waters at Saturday’s Conversation With Honorees – additional
guest announcements will be listed on provincetownfilm.org.
OPENING NIGHT FILM:
LOVELACE
East Coast Premiere! LOVELACE, starring Amanda Seyfried and Peter
Sarsgaard, tells the story behind the 1972 film Deep Throat – the first
pornographic feature to be embraced by mainstream audiences – an
“adult film” that had a plot, humor, and an unknown and unlikely star
named Linda Lovelace. Directed by Academy Award-winning filmmakers
Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman, and co-starring James Franco and
Sharon Stone. Guests scheduled to attend.
CLOSING NIGHT PARTY:
15TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION
Plan now to extend your weekend – Sunday’s Closing Night Party is notto-be-missed! Rafanelli Events presents a Commercial Street block party
extravaganza, including unforgettable sights, sounds and entertainment,
along with special guests, prizewinners, and the annual Festival Awards. COMPLETE LINEUP ANNOUNCED MAY 20TH PROVINCETOWNFILM.ORG
