Beauty Tips for the Inner You
For attractive lips, speak words of kindness.
For beautiful eyes, seek out the good in other people.
To lose weight, let go of stress and the need to control others.
To improve your ears, listen to the Word of God.
Touch someone with your love.
Rather than focus on the thorns of life, smell the roses and count
your blessings.
For poise, walk with knowledge and self-esteem.
To strengthen your arms, hug at least 3 people a day.
To strengthen your heart, forgive yourself and others.
Don't worry and hurry so much.
Rather, walk this earth lightly and yet leave your mark
Ladies Prayer Time Tuesday Mornings
10:00a.m.
Why do we believe what we do? We will take a look at various
questions and topics so we can KNOW what we believe and why.
”Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be
ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” 2 Timothy 2:15
What We Believe at
Blackstone Valley Baptist Church
1. We believe the whole Bible from Genesis 1:1 to Revelation
22:21, as the verbally inspired and infallible Word of God. – II
Timothy 3:16
2. We believe Jesus Christ was born of Mary the Virgin, and is
the Son of God, and God the Son. – Matthew 1:23
3. We believe that Christ died for our sins according to the
Scriptures, the Just for the unjust that He might bring us to God. –
I Peter 3:18
4. We believe that He rose from the grave the third day according to the Scriptures. – Matthew 28:6
5. We believe that He, only is the great High Priest and we need
not the intercession of any man, but that Christ ever liveth to
make intercession for us. Hebrews 7:24-25
6. We believe that Christ will come again in Person, bodily, visibly, to establish His Kingdom on the earth. – Acts 1:9-11
7. We believe that in order to be saved, the soul must be born
again – “Ye Must Be Born Again.” John 3:3-17
8. We believe that every truly born again soul should declare his
faith by the act of baptism (immersion in water) setting forth the
Lord’s death, burial, and resurrection. – Romans 6:4-10
9. We believe that the church is a body of baptized believers
whose main objective is to evangelize the lost and educate the
saved. -Acts 5:42

HEALTH
Health - n. 1. Strength and fitness.
2. The state or condition of your body.
Luke 2:52 - “And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God
and man.”
1 Corinthians 6:19-20 - “What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the
Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For
ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit,
which are God's.”
2 Corinthians 7:1 - “Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us
cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in
the fear of God”
3 John 2 - “Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in
health, even as thy soul prospereth.”
Drinking: Proverbs 20:1; 23:20-21, 23:29-30; Romans 13:13; Galatians 5:19-25;
Ephesians 5:18
Purity: Genesis 2:23-24; 1 Corinthians 6:12-20; 7:9; 10:12-13; Galatians 5:16-26;
Ephesians 5:1-3; Colossians 3:5; 1 Thessalonians 4:3-5
Smoking/Drugs: Romans 12:1; 1 Corinthians 6:19-20; 1 Thessalonians 5:23-24;
1 Peter 5:8
Are you healthy? What are some ways to increase your health?
*Eat well-balanced meals.
*Eat in moderation.
*Never smoke or use drugs.
*Exercise.
Why should you strive to take care of your body?
*Read 1 Corinthians 6:19-20.
*What does it mean that “your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit”
*What does “you were bought with a price” mean?
*How can you honor God with your body?
Read the verses concerning drinking, purity, and drugs.
*Think about the impact and ramifications of each on your health and the
effect on those around you.
*Is indulging in any of these honestly worth the cost of disobeying God
and putting your health at risk?
Take Action:
*Make a health plan for your family. What does the family need to do to be more
healthy? How can the family encourage each other?
Reformers Unanimous is for EVERYONE!! Too many times, people get the impression that RU is only for drug addicts and alcoholics and this is simply not true. Reformers Unanimous is an intense
discipleship program. Read the testimony below that was received at
the RUI office in Rockford, Illinois....
****************************************************
I was raised in a combination of attending a Lutheran
church and a Methodist church. Needless to say I never heard the
gospel until I was 14. It was then that I had a girlfriend that led me
to the Lord. I didn't get into a Bible preaching church until after I
was married, so my spiritual growth was minimal.
My husband and I have been involved in churches for the 55
years that we have been married. Our 4 children were raised in
church, also.
I learned everything I could, read the Bible, prayed, went to
special meetings, etc. I will have to say when we started our RU
chapter 6 years ago, it was a turning point in my Christian walk.
As I started doing the challenges, I learned so much of how
to apply the Fruits of the Spirit to my life. I learned things that I
never knew before. My eyes have been opened as to how God can
work in my life as I apply the Fruit of the Spirit.
I never was involved in drugs or alcohol, but I came to realize there are other addictions that Satan can sneak in on you. I am
thankful for this curriculum. I am starting the last book "Threshold"
this week. Anyone surely could benefit from these teachings.
God has shown me many things that I have neglected to do
and live; and I pray that He will continue to guide me as I try to help
others as an RU leader. God has all the answers, so we need to use
His Word to encourage others.
I am 72 years old and the only remaining start up member of
our chapter. God has blessed me so much and I am thankful for this
opportunity. To God be the glory...great things He hath done.
Devotional
Spiritually Dry!!!
As I sat outside on my front steps watching the kids
play, people walking their dogs and others just out for an evening stroll, I began looking around at the various vegetation
and I couldn’t help but notice that much of the wild shrubs
and the lawn was looking rather dry. There were spots on
the lawn that appeared yellowish like straw and when you
walked on it, it sounded as though you were walking on Corn
Flakes....crunch, crunch, crunch!
Then that was when the Holy Spirit spoke to my heart
and said “does this remind you of something?” Suddenly it
became clear to me that it was similar to my spiritual walk
and how it has reached a dry spell. As I pondered that
thought for a moment or two, I realized that I truly had
reached a dry spell in my spiritual walk with the Lord. Stop
for a moment and think about your walk...have you reached a
dry spell?
August for the most part brings us dry weather. We
usually yearn for rain to help revive our lawns and gardens.
We just pray for rain to bring us relief to satisfy the dry soil
and watch the lawns and plants flourish again. So, what can
be done to “water” our walk and nourish it to be lush and fruitful again? Eph. 4:23 ... “And be renewed in the spirit of your
mind;” Isaiah 55:1 ... “...everyone that thirsteth, come ye to
the waters...”
Well, that brings me to the next point. Amazing how
the hottest and driest month of the year is when we need relief the most, including our spiritual walk. Every August,
BVBC celebrates our anniversary in the form of a REVIVAL
with the Longs as our speakers. How appropriate is that!
Our souls are thirsty and we need so desperately a drink from
the waters of “LIFE”. Pastor seems to realize that this is just
about the time that we need some “watering” to our souls.
I praise God that we are blessed with Pastor Randy
and Kathy for their faithfulness to serving God as they are
lead. I thank God for sending them to us and for staying true
to His Word and for leading us according to God’s direction.
As we prepare for the upcoming revival, I’m truly thankful for
the leadership of prayer and fasting for a successful revival.
Satan is at work trying to destroy God’s children when they
are busy working to bring honor and glory to God’s work.
Are you ready to commit to watering your souls with
LIVING WATER? August is always one of the hottest months
and it really is a reminder of how thirsty I am spiritually as well
a physically. Revival & Lemonade anyone???
