LIKE AUTUMN, THE BOOK FAIR IS COMING SOON
The All Saints School Fall Book Fair will run Friday to Friday, Oct. 9-Oct. 16. This Fall’s theme is “Heroes.” Watch for more details including contests, a chance to donate, and extended hours. The handy
dandy pre-paid shopping certificate order forms will be in the next issue of Patriot Passages and upcoming
weekly folders.
Want to be a hero? See the opportunity to volunteer at the Book Fair below! Head’s up: As always, enjoy
donuts, coffee and early shopping on Wednesday, Oct. 14, at 7:00 a.m.
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES AT THE SCHOOL
The beginning of school brings great opportunities to help with some of the fun and essential functions
on campus. Below are a few ways that parents (and grandparents) can be a part of the day-to-day fun at
All Saints. If you have not already filled out the background check application, there is a link to it on the
school website. All volunteers must pass the background check before working with our students. Thank
you for your consideration. If you have completed the Parent Group Volunteer form -- Thank you! Folks
should be in contact soon.
• Our lunchroom coordinator, Oscar Flores, needs some help in the lunchroom. He has a few great
volunteers that come regularly, but needs a few more who might be willing to serve. If you have time,
even once or twice a month, please contact Oscar! His email is [email protected] and his
cell is 806-773-6479.
• If you expressed a desire to be a library reader volunteer, the schedule will be emailed to you soon. It
is not too late to be a part of the magic that happens when you share books with our younger Patriots.
Contact Karen Gretzler for more information at [email protected].
• Contact Christina Barritt ([email protected] or 806-317-5337) and volunteer to set-up on the 8th,
tear-down on the 16th, and/or work any of the 2-hour shifts throughout the fair.
EXCITING NEWS FROM INSTITUTIONAL ADVANCEMENT

BOX TOPS FOR EDUCATION TIME
Fall Box Top Competition - It has begun! Clip those tops and earn money for All
Saints! The Box Top Committee will gather Box Tops each Friday during the competition to count and calculate. We will announce weekly in Chapel which grade is in
the lead. This is a great way to support the school with items you already purchase.

Please remember, if your student is scheduled to acolyte, he or she needs to be in Jones Gym no later than 7:45 a.m. on the morning
in which he/she is scheduled to serve. After 7:45 a.m., we find replacements as needed, in order to provide time to practice.
CHAPEL NOTES
The year is off to a great start. We began the year with Genesis. Which, according to Maria in The Sound of Music, is
a “very good place to start.” After spending some time in the Creation story, we moved on to Adam and Eve, and this
week met Cain and Abel. As you might imagine, we have had many opportunities already to learn more about
forgiveness and mercy.
Your chaplain has a special request: When we experience chapel together in Jones Gym each morning, it is a
special time. The prayer, the music, the community, and most importantly, the Holy Spirit transform the gym into
a sacred space. During our worship services, I ask all parents and visitors to refrain from bringing food or drink
(including coffee) into the gym. Remember to turn all cell phones to vibrate. And if your students sit with you in
the bleachers, help them to follow along with the service with a Hymnal and a Book of Common Prayer. Thank
you for your attention to this request!
God’s blessings to each of you as we move into Fall. It is a great time to be a part of God’s creation, as we watch
it transform before us daily!
Peace, Chaplain Paige+
ALL SAINTS YARD SIGNS
Please contact the Advancement Office if you would like a new All Saints yard
sign. Signs are available at no charge. One per family, please.
LIBRARY NEWS
We are off to a great start in the library. We’ve read lots of books, done some fun
projects and activities, and learned about books and book care. Please help your student find a special place at
home for library books so they don’t get lost or damaged.
PRESIDENT’S VOLUNTEER SERVICE AWARD
Congratulations to senior Catherine Latour. Last week, Catherine was awarded The President’s Volunteer Service
Award by the Corporation for National and Community Service in recognition and appreciation for her commitment to strengthen our nation and communities through volunteer service. Congratulations, Catherine!

walls and/or fitted with new “short-throw” projectors. The new projectors
shine from above to provide a vibrant display and sound. Now every division
and nearly 90% of all classrooms have a SMARTBoard® available for interactive instruction.
What is a SMARTBoard®? It is an electronic whiteboard that responds to touch: taps and swipes. Both teachers
and students interact with the board using a variety of tools to blend text, web, video and sound media into learning activities. Ask your child how SMARTBoards® are used in his or her classroom!
LOWER SCHOOL PARENT MEETINGS
Thank you to all of the parents who were able to attend the parent meetings in first through fourth grade. The
teachers were so excited to share all of that information with you. Please let your child’s homebase teacher know
if you need the information discussed at the these meetings. Mrs. Long would love to have your feedback regarding these meetings as well. You can email her at [email protected].
Thank you, again, for your continued support and involvement.

COACHES CORNER
Congratulations to all of the Patriot teams for a successful Patriot Day against Plainview Christian Academy
(PCA). 7th Grade & 8th Grade Volleyball split with PCA in two tough matches and Middle School Football rolled
to a 50-0 win moving to 3-0 on the season.
JV and Varsity Volleyball also defeated PCA, and the Varsity victory gave the ladies a season sweep over Class
2A PCA. Thank you to everyone who came and cheered on the Patriots. The gym was full from the awesome pep
rally until the last volleyball match was won. Last night, the JV and Varsity
teams played hard against Denver City, a team whose varsity made it to the
3A State Final Four last year.
Middle School and High School Cross Country (CC) competed in the Plains
Cowboy & Cowgirl Invitational. It was a highly competitive meet and a
successful day for the Patriots. Freshman Ret Taylor placed second in the
boys varsity division with an outstanding 3.4K time of 19:23. Overall the
boys team was 8th place. ASHS Girls Varsity placed 5th overall with junior Riley Higgins (20th) and sophomore Lily McKay (22nd) leading the
way. Higgins and McKay placed 1st and 2nd in last year’s TAPPS State
Championship. Tyler Logan and Myles Tipton medaled in the high school
junior varsity boys race.
The Middle School Boys CC team placed 3rd overall led by 8th grader
Varsity Boys CC before their races
Jackson Janes with a 2nd place individual finish. Middle School girls did not
have enough girls this meet for a team, but three girls ran well in the largest race of the day.
All Saints will host its annual 7th Grade & 8th Grade volleyball tournaments this Friday and Saturday, September
18-19. Each tournament has 11 teams participating in matches starting Friday at 3:00 p.m. The All Saints 7th
grade team plays its first match at 3:00 p.m. in Jones Gym and the 8th grade team plays its first match at 4:00 in
Patriot Gym. See you there!
