increased number of injection events per combustion
cycle, it runs stronger – yet just as quiet as ever.

Everything from the High Pressure Common Rail fuel
injection system, proven cooled-EGR subsystem
and patented VG Turbo to the Cummins Particulate
Filter and crankcase ventilation system has been

Cummins ISB is designed for years of dependable
service. The proven B Series block has been designed
for even greater structural capability. Targeted pistoncooling nozzles lower piston temperatures for increased
durability in lower ratings, while gallery cooling achieves
the same goal in higher horsepower ratings. Plus,
it features a state-of-the-art oil filter for extended
component and engine life.
Features And Benefits.
6.7 liters of displacement (up 13% from the previous
model) means increased power, performance and
productivity. The aftertreatment system is designed to
operate automatically, with undetectable impact on
vehicle performance.

■ Low Noise Levels – Maintains industry leadership for
quietest operation for increased driver comfort and
safety.
■ Variable Geometry Turbocharger – Enhanced
response and control with electric actuation for
infinite adjustment, providing exact boost across
the operating range. Sliding-nozzle design increases
reliability, durability.
■ Cooled Exhaust Gas Recirculation – Lowers
combustion temperatures for reduced emissions and
optimized mpg.
■ Cummins Particulate Filter – Fully integrated for
uncompromising performance, reliability. Cummins
design allows regeneration even in adverse operating
conditions. Reduces particulate matter more
than 90%.
■ Crankcase Ventilation System – Electronically
managed for optimum efficiency. Does not add
parasitic load or complexity to the engine. Coalescing
filter is easily serviced, only needing replacement
every 2 years, 2,500 hours or 60,000 miles
(96,000 km).
■ Enhanced High Pressure Common Rail Fuel
System – Delivers optimum balance of performance,
emissions control and fuel economy across the
entire operating range.
■ Fully Integrated Electronic Controls – A single ECM
(Electronic Control Module) controls the engine and
aftertreatment. Also coordinates interaction with
the transmission, ABS, engine brake, cooling fan
and more. Plus, the ISB has every diagnostic,
maintenance monitoring and engine protection
feature that you need.
Optional Equipment.
■ Water-in-fuel sensor alerts drivers of water buildup in the
fuel filter. This is a warning sign that there may be excess
water in the fuel, which could cause performance and
durability problems.
■ An innovative oil level sensor operates like an electronic
dipstick, eliminating the need for the daily check of
oil level.
■ A larger 18-quart oil pan option allows 25% longer oil
change intervals. Additional oil in the sump means that
the additive package can keep protecting your engine
components longer. That translates into an extra 5,000
miles (8,000 km) between oil and oil filter changes.

when matched to various mechanical and automatic
