MSRIM & MSRMI's TEAM GREEN Brings – 'Go Green’
You can make that change; you are one of the billion people.
That's what inspired the students of MSR Management Institute who took initiative on 26th
January 2011 and organized 'Go Green'. The event organized on the Republic Day was
aimed to maintain sustainable environment by avoiding plastics & recycling wastes. Chief
Guest of the event was Mr. K. C. Raghu, MD, Pristine Organics. A quiz was conducted by
'The Green Team' and they gifted a plant to the winners which was apt to the green concept.
Later a volley ball match was held between the 2nd year & 1st year students. The seniors won
the match. In the evening the 'The Green Team' & the students formed groups and went to
different parts of the city to conduct the 'Green Campaign'. The objective was to bring
awareness among the youngsters & the people about the degrading environment & non over
use of non-biodegradable substances. Students prepared a questionnaire about various green
movements & on Union Republic of India. Questions were asked to the crowd and the
winners were awarded surprise gifts. Citizens of Bangalore shared valuable thoughts on how
to revitalize the garden city. The event photographs & videos were later posted on different
social networking sites.

Recall 2011
Recall - The Alumni Meet was organized
by MSRIM on 12th February 2011 at

was an overwhelming response from the
Alumni with more than 200 alumni
present at the meet. The event was a

Nostalgia was in the air when the cake
was cut by the senior most alumni Mr.
Tejas Mathews (1995-97 Batch). Old
memories were refreshed when he spoke
about his past experiences in the college.
It was then the time for the students to

“I walked into MSRIM as a Young,

mentor, support & best of
F.R.I.E.N.D.S... I also loved being

my

the
industry
(Research & Consulting) would
suggest that - don't be a jack of all
trade but have mastery over at least
one. During your time at MSRMI Identify your interest area, interact
more with faculties and share your
ideas with them and try to develop
your interest into your strength
which will help you move towards
the right direction at a much better

PGDBM Batch 2006-08
MSRIM was a great learning
platform which just catapulted me to
the next level. The faculty were so
experienced and competent, thus
giving the students the best of class
education.
The state of the art
facilities gave the students the right
environment to become future
managers. Two years in MSRIM
would be one of the most cherished
times in my life. The time just flew
and by the last day we just did not
want to go from there.
Media planning is one of the
specialized arms of marketing
communication. Putting in simple
words the job of a media planner is
to optimize the client’s advertising
spends. This includes medium
selection, vehicle selection and
buying the media etc. Thus a clear
strategy has to envelop all the
actions taken by a media planner.
The building blocks for my career
have clearly come from the
marketing fundaments which I learnt
sitting in the last bench of
Ramanujam Hall. It's the well
wishes from the entire faculty that
has helped me in achieving little
success in my life.

Inauguration of

“The journey of a mile starts with a
single right step”. In my case, this right
step was the decision to participate in the
selection-process of MSRIM
Management Course. This desire and
aspiration resulted in an offer of
selection and finally admission into the
course.
Being a novice, on the very morning of
the Orientation-Program, I came with
lots of thoughts and expectations. The
moment, the lamp was lit by our ChiefGuest, Dr. Pallab Bandhopadhayay
(Director - HR, Citrix Systems, India), it
was like an enlightenment for me and
other students. Then after, a highly
enlightening session by the Chief Guest
,we had an opportunity to visit our
concerned departments, buildings and
faculties which were going to be the
most sought after destination for
learning and skills – enhancement for the
next 2 years. An orientation given by
Dr. Sandhya Anvekar, Head - Research
& Publications, and Dr. Asim
Bandhopadhyay made us to understand

its legacy and operations. After
satisfying our taste-buds with a delicious
lunch, it was the time to know and meet
our mentors and seniors. Subsequent
sessions were delivered by the chieftrainer, motivator, Mr.Ramkumarr Seshu
of Born-to-win from Bangalore.
Subsequent days we all had an
opportunity to get trained under
renowned trainer and mentor, Mrs.
Linda of Break-Through, Bangalore.
This was the day of fun, play and attitude
building.
Bangalore was incomplete without a
group-trip to Bangalore-City. On our trip
to Bangalore-City, ISKCON-Temple
was very enthralling. Next halt on our
trip, welcomed us at Bannerghatta Zoo
and Safari, followed by Tipu-Sultan-Fort
and Karnataka High-Court views.
The seven days of our OrientationProgramme are going to be a treasure for
the rest of my life.

Mystery Behind Black
Vidisha Pandey, Shweta Mishra, PGDM (Auto.) 1st Year
Black Money is currently a highlighted
issue because of the indefinite hunger
strike of yoga guru Baba Ramdev against
corruption in black money after the
government failed in its last ditch effort
to talk him out of the protest. Black
Money is income earned surreptitiously
or illegally, usually in cash ,and not
reported to the government so as to avoid
paying taxes on it. Sources revealed that
$1.4 trillion India's black money is
deposited in the Swiss Bank. According
to data provided by Swiss Bank, India
has more black money than rest of the
world combined. India tops the list with
almost $1500 billion black money in
Swiss Bank followed by
Russia,U.K.,Ukraine,etc........
In May this year, the government
constituted a committee headed by the
CBDT Chairman for strenghthening
Legislation to curb the generation of
black money. In March this year, the
government had signed agreements with
3 leading think-tanks NCAER, NIFM
and NIPFP to conduct study on
unaccounted income generated inside
and outside the country.
During the interaction with the group of
print media journalists, the P.M. said"BLACK MONEY WAS A REALITY
EVEN AS HE DOUBTED THE SIZE
OF THE BLACK MONEY BEING
QUOTED". Various measures should
be taken to curb black money such as methods to prevent generation of black
money should be worked out. Secondly,
the black money that is kept overseas
should be brought back.
Lokayukta Justice Santosh N Hedge said
"if we can bring back black money
stacked in tax havens abroad and put
them in a bank in lieu of interest, we can
have budgets without fresh taxes ".
If black money is obtained from Swiss
Bank it can boost both aggregate demand
and aggregate supply. Money obtained
from Swiss Bank's thus would appear to
be a sound source of financing
development expenditure.

INTERNET MARKETING
Karan Rai, PRIST – 2nd Year
Marketing a single brand is a big challenge in a
country as diverse as India with various religions
and cultures, and where about 1600 dialects are
spoken. Marketers must constantly customize
products to stay in business. For example, yahoo
Inc. sensed a great demand for news in Hindi and
tied up with the Jagran group for content. In less
than a year, Hindi news was getting more hits
than English news. As a result, yahoo was able to
increase the number of user than any of its
competitors like “Google”.
There is no doubt that internet is the easiest and
the fastest mode of communication which
spreads the word of mouth marketing and the
cheapest platform for advertisement of brand
than promoting the brand through commercial
advertising, print media, and banner ads etc.
Facebook, Twitter, myspace and linkedIn are
the social media network and blogger sites are
Blogger, Wordpress and Typepad which
strengthen the E-Commerce activities like
Business to Customer (B2C) ,Business to
Government(B2G) and Business to Business
(B2B). However, each of the different internet
network media has different role and approach.
E.g, Facebook optimized the number of user to
like a particular brand with its unique service
“Like Button” available in all the facebook pages
which will reflect the brand equity of the
company's image and on the other hand,
LinkedIn's unique quality services had helped a
lot of M.N.Cs like Hewlett Packard (Hp) for
recommendation ads from professional to
professional, making of company's page and
mostly known for its in- mail service (viral
marketing) and Philips had also increased a
number of users and customers for its innovative
healthcare, lifestyle and lighting through
Question(Polls) and Custom Group in linkedIn.
Video Marketing is one of the most significant
forms of Internet Marketing and it is said by
experts, “video marketing will be the most
influential form of marketing Technique by
conventional method behind. But now days due
to aggressive push in the competition it is
advisable to start adapting new methodology and
tools for internet marketing. Some video
Syndication Sites are Youtube, Yahoo Video,
Google video, Atom, Veoh and Viemo etc.The
scope of online marketing can be divided into
two major parts:
(a) Search engine optimization (SEO): It is
the process of improving the visibility of a
website or a web page in search engines
via the "natural" or un-paid ("organic" or
"algorithmic") search results. In other
words, it is helpful for listing the
company's website in an ordinal fashion
(RANKING ORDER).
In India the SEO business is up coming and
majorly influencing the company's
involvement in E-Commerce and major
players are Goggle Search engine and
Yahoo search engine.
(b) Social Media Optimizations (SMO): It
considers an integral part of an online
reputation management (ORM) or Search
Engine Reputation Management (SERM)
strategy for organizations or individuals
who care about their online presence.
However, in India it is a very new technique and
the roots are not strong enough to hold the SMO
Empire but in the span of last one year, the
companies are involving in social media
activities and thus, optimistic result has been
achieved.
As India is still in its developing phase but on the
other side of the road the level of investment is
also comparatively increasing in different phases
of economic cycle from the new Indian
entrepreneur's side because continuous
innovation and transformation has been the key
goal for them. India's growth on the internet
space has been very good, however relative to
countries.
