It is that time of year again. With the 86th Academy Awards taking
place on 2nd March 2014, this is most definitely Oscar season.
Along with screenings of American Hustle and 12 Years A Slave,
we welcome back a selection of films which have already played at
Triskel and are up for nomination: The Great Beauty (Best Foreign
Language Film), Philomena (Best Picture) and Blue Jasmine (Best
Actress). But these are only a fraction of the films screening this
month at Triskel Christchurch: there is French cinema with the
outstanding Blue Is The Warmest Colour and Stranger By The
Lake, the Irish documentary Broken Song, quirky American films
with August: Osage County and the Coen Brothers latest Inside
Llewyn Davis, and Hollywood classics Breakfast At Tiffany’s and
Alien: The Director’s Cut. We also continue our partnership with
Cork Film Festival showcasing excellent short films, with the Corkmade film The Handsome Shadows playing as support to Inside
Lleywn Davis.
