NON-COLOR TREATED HAIR
READ ALL DIRECTIONS CAREFULLY BEFORE USING QUANTUM THERMAL STRAIGHTENER. DO NOT USE ON COLOR TREATED HAIR.
FAILURE TO FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS MAY CAUSE OVER-PROCESSING, HAIR BREAKAGE AND/OR SKIN IRRITATION.
• Ask the client if he or she has ever had an allergic reaction to a straightener perm or other cosmetic product. If so, do not use Quantum Thermal Straightener.
• Always examine hair to be sure it is in proper condition for thermal straightening. If scalp has sores or abrasions, do not perform straightening service.
• Do not brush, rub or vigorously shampoo scalp before thermal straightening.
• Examine the hair for breakage, discoloration, poor elasticity or texture. Always do a strand test. If the hair breaks or discolors after the test strand is dried and
combed, do not use Quantum Thermal Straightener.
• If Quantum Straightener Step 2 drips onto the skin, gently blot the skin immediately with a cotton ball soaked with cool water. DO NOT WIPE.
• Always wear protective gloves when using the Quantum Thermal Straightener.
• Do not allow Quantum Straightener Step 2 or Quantum Neutralizer Step 3 to come in contact with the eyes. If eye contact occurs, flush thoroughly with cool water
and consult a doctor.
• Wait one week after using Quantum Thermal Straightener before applying permanent hair color.
• Do not use on hair that has been previously relaxed with products containing sodium hydroxide (e.g. no-mix, no-base relaxers), calcium hydroxide (no-lye relaxers),
other metal or guanidine carbonate hydroxides.
• Do not use on hair that has been previously treated with henna, metallic salts or color restorers.
• Do not shampoo hair for 48 hours after Quantum Thermal Straightener service.
• Seal Quantum Straightener Step 2 securely after first use. We recommend that after first use, the remaining Quantum Straightener be used within two weeks.

IN ADDITION, YOU WILL NEED THE FOLLOWING ITEMS:
• Protective gloves
• Plastic cape or towel
• Quantum Clarifying Shampoo
• Wide-tooth comb • Tint brush • Ceramic Flat Iron capable of reaching a temperature of 180° C or 356° F
PREPARATION
1. Cover shoulder area with a plastic cape or towel and shampoo hair with Quantum Clarifying Shampoo.
2. Towel dry hair thoroughly and apply Quantum Porosity Equalizer Step1. The porous areas should absorb more Quantum Porosity Equalizer Step 1 than the less
porous areas. DO NOT OVERSATURATE.

HAIR AND IS COMPLETELY SAFE FOR ALL HAIR COLOR, including porous hair that has been previously permed, tinted or highlighted up to 40%
APPLICATION
1. Comb and section hair into "T" partings (Fig.1). Starting at the nape of the neck, make 3/4" partings across the section.
2. Starting 1/2" from the scalp, apply the Quantum Straightener Step 2 product directly from the jar onto the hair with a tint brush. Spread the product throughout
the whole length of the hair including ends, while avoiding the root area (Fig. 2). Never apply the product to the scalp, since contact with the scalp may
cause irritation.
3. Gently comb hair straight with a wide-tooth comb and with medium tension. Continue up to the top of the head gently combing each section, making sure there
is enough product on the hair at all times.
PROCESSING
1. Process hair at room temperature. Do not cover or use dryer.
2. Process the hair for 5 minutes. Take a few strands of hair at midpoint between the crown and the nape of the neck. Coil the hair around your index finger. (Fig. 3).
3. If the hair maintains its coiled form, it has been fully processed (Fig 4). If the coil opens, the hair needs additional processing.
4. Perform this test at different positions along the hair strand (top, middle and end). If this test indicates that the hair is sufficiently processed at the more porous
areas of the hair strand (the end of the hair strand) but not at the more resistant crown area, place the ends of the hair on a towel and spray this processed
portion (the end of the hair strands) with water to slow/stop the chemical reaction.
5. Perform this test in several different areas: crown, back, sides and top.
6. Repeat this test every 5 minutes until processing is complete.
PROCESSING TIMES: NORMAL HAIR: 35 MINUTES MAXIMUM RESISTANT HAIR: 45 MINUTES MAXIMUM
7. When processing is complete, rinse the hair for 5-7 minutes with warm water to remove all Quantum Straightener Step 2.
8. Excessively thick and/or very porous hair may take longer to thoroughly rinse.
9. Keep the hair as straight as possible during the rinsing procedure.

IRON OPERATION PRECAUTIONS
1. To prevent damage to hair, it is recommended to completely evaluate the hair. Do not use on damaged or weakened hair.
2. The safe temperature of the iron is 180°C/356°F or less.
3. Preheat the iron for one minute. When moving the iron, do no apply excessive pressure as this could cause damage to the hair.
4. Do not touch the scalp with the iron as it could cause flesh burns.
THERMAL PROCESS
1. After rinsing out Quantum Thermal Straightener Step 2, finger-dry the hair with a dryer, leaving 10-20% moisture in the hair before using the straightening
iron. If too much moisture is left in the hair, the heat of the iron will generate steam, which could cause irritation to the skin. Also, if the hair is too dry, the hair
could be damaged. BE EXTRA CAREFUL TO DRY THE HAIR TO THE PROPER STATE.
2. Comb and section hair into "T" partings (Fig. 1).
3. Starting at the nape of the neck, take 1/8" sections not longer than the length of the iron.
4. Keep the iron at least 1/2" to 3/4" away from the scalp (Fig. 5). Starting near the root area, treat 1/3 of the hair shaft, press, slide and repeat 2 times to a total of
2 seconds per location. Then go to the next section and repeat this through the hair ends. DO NOT MAINTAIN THE HOT IRON IN ONE PLACE FOR ANY LENGTH
OF TIME OR HAIR BREAKAGE/BURNING MAY OCCUR. A comb should be used to direct the hair exiting from the hot iron to prevent burning of the fingers (Fig.
6).
5. Since the hair near the scalp is more resistant than the ends, it may be necessary to straighten that area more. Some steaming may be noticed during the
procedure. Continue this procedure up to the top of the head.
6. Avoid using clips for any length of time to pin the hair out of the way.
NEUTRALIZATION
1. When Thermal Processing is complete, gently comb hair as smooth and straight as possible with a wide-tooth comb and apply the Quantum
Neutralizer Step 3 directly from the bottle. Start at the nape and make 3/4" partings across the section (Fig. 7).Evenly saturate the hair from root to ends.
2. Comb the hair with a wide-tooth comb while maintaining the hair in a straight configuration to distribute the neutralizer evenly throughout the hair.
3. Process for 5 minutes, then thoroughly rinse out the Quantum Neutralizer Step 3 for approximately 5 minutes.
4. Apply the Quantum Leave-In Treatment Step 4 evenly throughout the hair. This conditioner will leave the hair healthy and shiny.
5. The hair is now ready for styling. DO NOT SHAMPOO HAIR FOR 48 HOURS.
REGROWTH TREATMENT
1. Follow instructions in the Preparation section described above.
2. Apply Quantum Straightener Step 2 to the new growth area only, starting 1/2" from the scalp. After processing for 5 minutes at room temperature, take
a small strand of the treated hair and coil it around your index finger (Fig.3).
3. If the treated hair strand maintains its coiled form, the hair has been fully processed (Fig. 4). If the coil opens, the hair needs additional processing.
4. Perform this test in several different areas: crown, back, sides and top as well as at different positions along the treated hair strand.
5. Repeat this test every 5 minutes until processing is complete.
6. When this test indicates that the processing is almost complete, comb the product through the remainder of the hair and process for an additional 3 minutes.
PROCESSING TIMES: NORMAL HAIR: 35 MINUTES MAXIMUM RESISTANT HAIR: 45 MINUTES MAXIMUM
7. Rinse the hair for 5-7 minutes with warm water to remove all Quantum Straightener Step 2.
8. Perform the steps described in the Thermal Process section primarily on the new growth while passing the hot iron over the previously treated hair.
9. Perform the steps described in the Neutralization section.
