$10.55 MILLION IN COMMITMENTS
A
t the USPOULTRY Foundation Executive Luncheon held
during the 2015 International Production & Processing
Expo in January, USPOULTRY announced $10.5
million in commitments had been pledged for Ensuring
the Future. We are pleased to note that the amount has increased
to $10.55 million since the announcement - with more to come!
“The tremendous support from Foundation donors means that
we can significantly increase the funding invested back into the
industry. It will expand vital research and youth programs that
help attract students to poultry and related majors and ultimately
into careers in the poultry and egg industry,” said campaign cochairman, Elton Maddox, president and CEO of Wayne Farms, at
the luncheon.
The USPOULTRY Foundation serves all segments of the poultry
and egg industry, investing millions of dollars for recruiting
students and funding research. Donors recognized at the luncheon
were acknowledged in eight categories.
The USPOULTRY Foundation is a tax exempt, public 501(c)(3)
Foundation.

Board Research Initiative
The USPOULTRY Board Research Initiative has issued
requests for proposals for two research projects. The first is the
investigation of the efficiency of inducing insensibility in
poultry using low voltage stunning. The second project will look
at the determination of the interaction of density and wellbeing in
broilers and turkeys.

USPOULTRY FOUNDATION SENDS FFA
STUDENTS TO IPPE
As part of an enhanced effort by the USPOULTRY Foundation
to support the recruitment and training of the brightest students
and to promote careers in the poultry and egg industry, the top
10 finishing teams of the National FFA Poultry Evaluation Career
Development Event (CDE) were invited to the International
Poultry Expo, part of the International Production & Processing
Expo (IPPE) in Atlanta, Ga., at the end of January. As a result,
almost 50 FFA student leaders participated in the IPPE.
Poultry industry leaders, Elton Maddox, president and CEO,
Wayne Farms; Doug Ramsey, SVP of Poultry, Tyson Foods; and
Randall Ennis, director, Global Business Development for the
EW Group, Aviagen, participated in a program that informed the
students about the multitude of career opportunities in the industry.
Additionally, students had an opportunity to visit the vast trade
show floor to see the exciting technology used by today’s modern,
sustainable poultry industry.
