Lectio Divina for Women: Two opportunities
Morning Group begins this Friday
Evening Group continues on Wednesdays
All women of the parish are welcome to join a Lectio Divina
prayer group. We have an evening group that meets every
other Wednesday evening from 7 until 8:30 pm in Our Lady’s
Gathering Room. The next meeting is September 30th.
We also have a morning group that meets Friday mornings
from 10 until 11 am also in the Gathering Room. The first
meeting is this Friday, September 25th. This is a wonderful
way to prepare for the weekend readings and to share a
prayer experience with other women.
For information about Lectio Divina groups please contact
Janet Hassan: [email protected].
Catholic Book Study
Beginning on Thursday, October 1st, we will
start a Catholic Book Study. The book we
will read and discuss is titled: The Way of
Serenity: Finding Peace and Happiness in
the Serenity Prayer. This New York Times

Morris, a Catholic priest of the Archdiocese

weeks from 7:00 until 8:00 pm. This book concentrates on
the Virtues of Serenity, Courage and Wisdom. We will learn a
practical way to patiently and wisely discern what we can
and cannot do, and how to find peace as we give the responsibility to God.
Contact Janet at the parish office for a book or to sign up:

Soul Sisters: THIS FRIDAY --- Sign up today
Our next Soul Sisters even is on
Friday, September 25th.
SOUL (Sharing Our Unique Lives)
Sisters is a social group for all
women of the parish to come
out, get to know one another,
and have some fun. On September 25 we welcome Nancy
Crockett, CNHP, CLYL, to our group for an evening of fun as
she introduces to us a new craze: Laughter Yoga! This is an
ancient, new idea about how to find health, happiness and
well being. It is a simple, yet powerful practice that can
produce profound changes in mood, confidence and health.
This is LOW IMPACT and can be done sitting in a chair or
standing. Everyone can do this! Come, have some fun with
the ladies of the parish. We will gather at 6:45pm. The
Laughter begins at 7pm, followed by dessert!
Reservations are needed for set up and refreshments:
Sign up at [email protected] or call Helen: 898-7851.
Conversational Spanish
Come to Our Lady’s Gathering Room
this Monday evening at 7pm, and have
some fun with the Spanish language!
This is Conversational Spanish, not the
boring "let's conjugate some verbs"
class that you might have attended in the past. These are
practical classes that can help you at a Mexican restaurant
or on vacation. All adults and young adults are welcome!
Contact Troy Bourne at [email protected] or 599.8357 any
night until 8pm.
Coat Collection/Bake Sale:
St. Monica's Guild and the Ladies of
Carmel will be having their annual Fall
Bake Sale & collection of clean coats,
sweatshirts, sweaters, scarves, and
gloves the weekend of October 3rd and
4th after all Masses! Your donations of
winter wear has been of great benefit in
helping the homeless and those in need over the past years
in our community, and we hope to continue to help our
brothers and sisters in need. A bin for your donations will
be available and those items will be delivered to LINK and
St. Vincent's clothing closet. Thank you!!

Our Lady of Mount Carmel School News
Blessed Sacrament Chapel in School
Our Lady of Victory Chapel is now open in the main hallway of the elementary school building. During the 2013-2014
school year’s OLMC School Faith Day, Sister Dominic asked all of the students to pray, as an intention for the
school, that we would be able to have a chapel within the building. The 8th grade class at the time, our graduating
class of 2014, truly took this request to heart and continued with deeper prayer, then, upon their graduation,
generously presented the school with a gift to be used for the chapel’s ciborium. The students’ words about how they
decided upon their gift are beautiful: “The ciborium is close to Jesus… and that’s where we want to be.” “God has
always been at the center of our school, and a chapel would make that really obvious. And since the Eucharist is at
the center of the chapel, our gift shows that we know where our center is.”
During this past year, many generous donations of finances and labor were received from OLMC school families and
faculty, OLMC parishioners, and the parish itself toward the complete conversion of a workspace in to the chapel.
The scope of work included framing, drywall, trimming, painting, ceiling tiles, flooring, lighting, window treatments, and
décor. Seating is the final element to be completed, but the chapel is now in use with temporary seating.
Father John David brought the Blessed Sacrament to the chapel following the first school Mass of the 2015-2016
school year, and our students, faculty and staff are excited for new opportunities for Adoration and prayer. We are
very pleased to be sharing the chapel for Daily Mass during the parish renovations.
