Dear colleagues,
We’ve arrived! We’ve always held a special place in our hearts for Canada and, as the centre
for the mining industry we’ve appropriately decided on Toronto as the home for our first of many
Mines and Money Americas events.
The last four years have been difficult for the mining industry, with commodity prices at historic lows.
However, we’ve been here before. Do you remember the last mining downturn 2000 to 2003? That
was just as bad. Just as the industry recovered then, it will start to recover in 2016 or if not 2017.
If you are serious about the mining industry, this is the time to be seizing opportunities. Mines and
Money Americas provides you with the platform to do this.
Through a series of leading keynotes, interactive panels, roundtables and fireside chats with industry
leaders you will learn how mining companies can adjust to the current market conditions and the
exciting new investment opportunities spanning the Americas.
As an industry leader offering support to deal making and networking, we will also be offering a
tailored one to one meeting planner for investors and mining companies. Please enquire upon
booking. We would also like to welcome you to join us at the Gala and Awards Dinner to be hosted
on September 27th, a real treat for mining and investment enthusiasts!
We look forward to seeing you in Toronto in September.
Kind regards,
Leon Walton
Event Director
Mines and Money
P.S. Mines and Money Americas also coincides with the relaunch of the
Hockey World Cup www.nhl.com. Don’t forget to reserve your accommodation early!

14.50 Presentation: New Approaches to Project Financing
– Putting some skin in the game; a model for engineering
firms to partner with their clients and create alignment in
achieving project objectives
Many projects that have high potential fail to get off the ground
or take very long to realize their value due to project facilitation
funding constraints, particularly at the early stages. To address
this market, DRA has, with strategic partners, jointly established
an independent investment fund, Concentrate Capital Partners,
aimed at early stage projects which meet the fund’s selection
criteria. The fund will finance PEA, PFS and FS level projects
and is intended as a vehicle through which DRA may participate
in projects as a member of a financing consortium or
minority equity partner, and as a technical and engineering
partner. Concentrate Capital Partners will offer project and
corporate finance, principal investment and technical consulting
services to DRA’s client base.

of the restrictions securities regulators impose on companies

exploration juniors, created by regulatory efforts to “protect”
investors by imposing “suitability” criteria
• Understanding the implications of the regulatory attack on
the “accredited investor” exemption which allows well-healed
investors to fund juniors through private placements.
• Creating a crowd-sourced outcome visualization system
that generates a dynamic consensus potential outcome
completely based on numerical assumptions – how would
it work in practice?

16.10 British Colombia: Developing successful projects
alongside communities across the province
• Why is social license to operate important for any mining
project? How can a robust programme help encourage
investment and community support?
• As SLO is not formally granted, community acceptance
may ebb and flow. Not everyone will agree, nor even agree
on what appropriate consensus means, however what
factors contribute to a successful SLO programme?
• Project failure: when SLO goes wrong
• Are we heading in the direction of making SLO mandatory
for developers, governments and First Nations by
establishing formal parameters around how community
acceptance is measured, granted and maintained?

investment communities by ensuring their talks include coverage
of raw materials requirements.
 Session 5: Investment issues in battery metals
Panellists from the investment community and from across the batteries
and battery metals supply chain will compare the prospects of key
battery metals, considering such points as:
• Examining how far and for how long EVs and renewable energy
storage will continue to stand out as key drivers of demand for
battery metals
• Understanding the relative performance of the battery metals for
investors
