Our community projects raised $225,000 for local nonprofit organizations and charitable causes, while donor
advised and community funds awarded grants totaling more than $150,000.
M e s s a ge f ro m the Treasurer, Ty Weber:
The year 2015 proved to be a very successful next step in the Flathead Community Foundation’s
evolution. While remaining fiscally neutral, our operating fund made two large investments in our
organization’s growth. We engaged a new service which provides specialized, best practice community
foundation accounting and fund management. With our increased activity the need arose to bring on
a second staff person to support the extensive work of our executive director. Our FCF Board is proud
of our conservative stewardship of the funds entrusted to us by our donors and nonprofit organizations
making it possible for FCF to proactively meet the needs of our community.
Thank you for the confidence you’ve placed in us!

ANNUAL
REPORT
The Flathead Community Foundation is here to help you create
your charitable Legacy. Our familiarity with local nonprofits and
knowledge of the Montana Endowment Tax Credit will maximize
your giving impact and meet your financial goals.
Healthy, safe, and vital communities don’t just happen. They
happen because people like you care. It takes a Valley to preserve
what matters most. We are honored to serve you.
Thank you for giving back to the place you love.
YOU MAKE THE DIFFERENCE.
Women Who Wine of the Flathead (WWWF) brings
women of all ages together for social and professional
networking, and to learn about and support charitable
causes in the Flathead Valley. Membership is open
and requires only a modest monthly contribution.
Volunteers take turns serving as hostess and selecting
the month’s nonprofit beneficiary.
WWWF founders Laura O’Connor, Darla Harmon,
and Katy Croft conceived the idea and consulted the Flathead Community Foundation to establish
a charitable fund. FCF awarded a matching grant to assist WWWF during its first year (2014). The
women easily doubled their monthly fundraising goals on their own, and in 2015 awarded grants
totaling $24,000.
Women Who Wine is a shining example of the impact of giving together, pooling resources to
positively impact thousands of lives.

WE MAKE IT HAPPEN.
Give Local Flathead is a 24-hour crowdfunding event designed
to empower every person to give back to their community by
supporting the organizations they trust to tackle our most pressing
needs. The annual event celebrates “hometown philanthropy,”
engages new and younger donors, and brings increasing awareness
to local nonprofits and their invaluable services.
“Flathead Valley residents opened their hearts and pocketbooks to
raise more than $70,000 during the inaugural Give Local Flathead
campaign on Tuesday . . . a sizable amount of money to generate in just one day and a clear message that philanthropy is
alive and well in the Flathead. All of the many donors deserve our heartfelt gratitude and thanks.
The Flathead Community Foundation organized the fundraiser along with Northwest Montana United Way as a convenient
opportunity for people to donate to roughly 60 eligible nonprofits.
We have no doubt that next year’s Give Local Flathead campaign will build on the momentum generated during the first 24hour blitz. It’s been said many times, but bears repeating that Flathead folks are some of the most generous people around.”
~Daily Inter Lake editorial, Wednesday, May 6, 2015
The Kalispell Boulder Project – a Flathead Community Foundation volunteer effort to build a bouldering park near
downtown Kalispell – reached its fundraising goal of $100,000 in December 2015. Project funds were spent for
the purchase, installation and landscape finishing of two, synthetic, climbing boulders in Kalispell’s Lawrence Park.
Community volunteers worked with Kalispell Parks & Recreation and Montana Conservation Corps to complete the
project.
According to lead organizer, Jandy Cox, “Fundraising for Kalispell Boulder Project was a grass roots effort. We
appreciate how the community rallied around the project and helped make our vision a reality. We could not have
reached our goal without the fiscal management and administrative support of the Flathead Community Foundation, and
the generosity of Kalispell Daybreak Rotary, local businesses, private foundations, and every individual donation from
one to one thousand dollars!” For more information, visit www.kalispellboulderproject.com.
Flathead Community Foundation has proudly served as Title Sponsor for the Montana
Dragon Boat Festival since the event’s inaugural in 2012. Title Sponsorship represents
a significant financial and resource commitment by the Foundation, but we believe it
has been a worthy investment. The Dragon Boat Festival celebrates Flathead Lake’s
pristine beauty; promotes teamwork and healthy competition; raises awareness
and fundraising opportunities for nonprofit organizations; and brings major tourism
business to the entire Flathead Valley. Paddles Up!
