Meet the Quantico Staff
August 2016
Lincoln Military Housing Quantico offers 1,137 homes within nine communities
serving Marine Corps Base Quantico. These homes are maintained by the
dedicated staff in the Housing and Maintenance offices.
Both departments are led by LMH veteran, Kim Sickel, District Manager. Kim
joined Lincoln in 2004 as a Customer Service Representative at Quantico. With a
sharp mind and positive attitude, she quickly joined the Management team taking
over as District Manager of the Dahlgren office. But, Quantico called and needed
a leader with knowledge and skills that surpassed all others and she returned
home.
Resident Manager, Kelly Barchanowicz, and Housing Manager, Viola Johnson,
round out the management team of the Housing office. They are as efficient as
they are knowledgeable about LMH policies and procedures. Kelly and Viola
work dilligently each day to assist residents with their needs. The Housing Office
is also comprised of Customer Service Representatives Caitlin, Isabelle, Kim J,
and Katie. Each of these dynamic individuals bring a wealth of experience. This
Housing team is devoted to our Quantico residents and commit themselves to
excellence. Our summer addition, Seneca brings an infectious smile to the front
desk to go along with his helping hands.
Maintenance Director, Jeff Stafford, heads the Maintenance team with a quick wit
and infectious “Can Do, Will Do” approach to any and every maintenance concern.
He is supported by Maintenance Supervisor, Jimmy and Service Management
staff of Stacy and Brandon. Did you arrive to Quantico and wanted to move in
early? Thank Keith and Jimmy H., who routinely toil day and night to get your
homes ready for move-in. Once you are in the home, it is the job of our handy
technicians, Eddie, Jacob, Andrew, and Johnny to maintain them. Top notch
curb appeal is always a goal of our grounds crew, Don, Jeff, Michael S., Travis,
and Clarence, who are out on property maintaining pet waste stations, checking
playgrounds, and so much more. Ever wonder what happened to your suggestion
on the Resident Satisfaction Survey? With his clip board and pencil, Mike T.,
Project Manager, works tiredlessly with vendors to conceive the most efficient
solution to all projects. This maintenance team works long hours to ensure that
your homes and neighborhoods remain in great condition.

A Message on Safety....

*** ALL HANDS - POKEMON GO APP SAFETY AND GUIDANCE ***
As many of you are aware, at the beginning of July, the “Pokemon Go” app was released
for IOS and Android devices. “Pokemon Go” allows players to capture, battle and train
virtual Pokemon in real-world settings. Players use the GPS function and the camera on
their smart phones to follow their avatar’s travels in the real world setting.
The popular use of this app, both on and off base, raises safety and security concerns. As
players embark on their quest to “catch them all,” they tend to disregard their surroundings, which can lead to injury as well as trespassing.
In order to mitigate trespassing issues, please report suspicious individuals, individuals
engaging in suspicious activity, and unauthorized personnel in or near your workspaces
to the base police. Please let the base police know if you believe the person wandered
near or into your workspace because of suspected use of the Pokemon Go app. During
these incidents, if safe to do so, please have the suspicious individual or unauthorized
person stay in place until the base police are able to arrive on scene.
Please do not call base police to report individuals who are merely playing the game
while in public areas or to report individuals who are authorized to be in your command
spaces.
Finally, please be aware of your surroundings while using the app and engage in safe
practices.

BBQ Chicken Tenders
Ingredients:
Recipe courtesy of www.eatingwell.com
1 cup prepared barbecue sauce
2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
2 tablespoons honey
1 1/2 pounds chicken tenders
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground pepper
2 large eggs
1 3/4 cups coarse dry breadcrumbs, preferably whole-wheat
Olive oil or canola oil cooking spray
Directions:
1. Combine barbecue sauce, mustard and honey in a large bowl. Set aside 1/2
cup of the sauce in a small bowl. Cut any large chicken tenders in half
lengthwise, then add all the tenders to the large bowl with the remaining
sauce; stir to coat. Marinate in the refrigerator for 30 minutes to 1 hour.
2. Preheat oven to 450°F. Coat a large rimmed baking sheet with cooking
spray.
3. Combine flour, salt and pepper in a shallow dish. Lightly beat eggs in an
other shallow dish. Place breadcrumbs in a third shallow dish. Coat each
tender in flour, shaking off any excess. Dip in egg and let any excess drip
off. Then roll in the breadcrumbs, shaking off any excess. Place the tenders
on the prepared baking sheet. Generously coat both sides of each tender
with cooking spray.
4. Bake for 10 minutes. Turn each tender over and continue baking until the
outside is crisp and the tenders are cooked through, about 10 minutes
more. Serve with the reserved sauce for dipping.
Living Green Tips
August: Getting ready for a new school year
Information courtesy of http://www.webmd.com/parenting/family-health-12/back-to-school-prep?
It’s almost time for the new school year to begin. Little ones can be nervous about starting a new school
and beginning a new routine. Here are some tips from WebMD on how to help your child(ren) get ready
for a productive year!!
1. Re-Establish School Routines. Use the last few weeks of summer to get
into a school-day rhythm by having your child practice getting up and getting
dressed at the same time every morning.
2. Nurture Independence. Once the classroom door shuts, your child will
need to manage a lot of things on their own. Get them ready for independence
by talking ahead of time about responsibilities that they are old enough to
shoulder.
3. Create a Launch Pad. Designate a spot where school things like backpacks
and lunch boxes always go to avoid last-minute scrambles in the morning.
4. Set Up a Time and Place for Homework . Head off daily battles by making
homework part of your child’s everyday routine. Establish a time and a place
for studying at home.
5. After-School Plans. School gets out before most working parents get home, so it’s important to figure
out where your children will go, or who will be at home, in the afternoons.
6. Make a Sick-Day Game Plan. Parents also know the trials and tribulations of getting a call from the
school nurse when they can’t get away from the office. Before school begins, line up a trusted babysitter
or group of parents that can pinch hit for each other when children get sick.
7. Attend Orientations to Meet and Greet. Schools typically hold orientation and information sessions
before the start of each academic year. These are good opportunities for you to meet the key players:
your child’s teachers, school counselors, the principle, and most importantly, front desk staff.
8. Talk to the Teachers . When you talk to your child’s teachers, ask about their approach to homework.
Ask for the dates of tests and large assignments so you can help your child plan accordingly.
9. Make it a Family Affair. Together, you and your child can plan for success. Create a routine chart.
