participation, so that it is not limited by size or marketing budget. Type of
shop has been indicated but each independent will be different. There

Devizes has one of the largest market places in
the West of England, with a regular Thursday
Market, dating back to its Royal Charter of 1141. It
is still enhanced by the Wadworth shire horses
delivering beer. The Shambles hosts covered
markets on six days each week. The Market
Place and main streets are the scene of many
popular events during the year.
As well as major national chains, in the centre of
town, Devizes benefits from a wide range of
independently owned shops.
