2012 Cattle Barons’ Ball to Benefit the American Cancer Society
What:
A fabulous event celebrating 15 years in Tampa where cowboys and cowgirls come together for an
evening of good old western fun! So grab your hat and dust off your boots, climb into your best
western gear for the most enjoyable event this side of the Rio Grande! It promises to bring you a toetapping, knee-slapping, rip-roaring, kick up your heels good time!
Featuring Headline Country Artist—Jo Dee Messina ,who has had nine number one singles on the
Billboard Country Charts!
Cattle Barons’ Ball Tampa is proud to announce that more than 80cents on every dollar donated goes
toward funding our American Cancer Society Mission. ―It’s not about the party; it’s why we give the
party.‖ The donations we receive through Cattle Barons’ make a significant impact in the war to
fight cancer today and to one day develop a cure. And all of this is accomplished through donations
from our community.

In 1913, the five year survival rate was one in nine.
In 1940, the survival rate grew to one in four.
In the 1960’s, the cancer survival rate was up to one in three.
Today, the cancer survival rate is 62% for all cancers.
The American Cancer Society donates more money to cancer research than any other private, not for
profit, non-government funder of cancer research in the United States. American Cancer Society has
funded 46 Nobel Prize winners. With your donation, we can fund the 47th.
Fully funded by your donations to the American Cancer Society, the American Cancer Society's Benjamin Mendick Hope Lodge Tampa is a Home Away From Home for cancer patients receiving treatments. This facility is designed to offer housing, counseling and referral services free of charge to
any cancer patient who travels to the Tampa Bay area for treatment.
Reaching Out to Cancer Kids (R.O.C.K.) Programs, includes R.O.C.K. Camp, R.O.C.K. family weekend, and college scholarships for kids with cancer. These programs are fully funded by the American
Cancer Society. Help make a difference in these children’s lives.
In addition to these services, The American Cancer Society provides patient services, transportation,
support groups.
Mission
The American Cancer Society is the nationwide community based voluntary health
organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem by preventing
cancer, saving lives and diminishing suffering from cancer through research, education,
advocacy and service.

Cattle Barons’ Ball Center Stage
Featuring Country Music Artist Jo Dee Messina
Jo Dee gained attention with "Heads Carolina, Tails California" and "You're Not In
Kansas Anymore" from her first. The second, I'm Alright, with its back-to-back-toback chart-toppers "Bye Bye" (ASCAP's Song of the Year), "I'm Alright" and
"Stand Beside Me," made her a star. It went double platinum and was nominated
for Album of the Year by the Academy of Country Music. Jo Dee won the ACM's
Top New Female Vocalist award, the CMA Horizon award and the nod for Most
Played Country Female of 1999 from Billboard. The follow-up, Burn, entered the
Country Albums chart at #1, went platinum and earned two Grammy
nominations. Hits like "Lesson in Leavin'," "Because You Love Me," "Downtime,"
"Bring On The Rain," "That's The Way" and "My Give A Damn's Busted" would
cement her reputation as one of country's most loved and enduring hit-makers.
Along the way, Jo Dee earned a well-deserved reputation as a great live performer,
and she became one of the first women of country to mount a major headlining
tour.

researcher working on finding a cure. At Cattle Barons’ you will be listed as the Underwriter of R.O.C.K.
Programs during our call to action. Our donors will be asked to contribute a minimum of $1,000 during this
emotional giving time.
Hope Lodge
It takes over ONE MILLION dollars of donated funds to run our American Cancer Society’s Hope Lodge. Hope
Lodge is a home away from home for cancer patients & a caregiver during active treatment for cancer in our
community. Please help us fund this program by planting the seeds so we may watch the funding grow. At our
Cattle Barons’ Ball, donors will be asked to contribute $1,000 dollars to help defray the costs of a week

Our guests will belly up to the bar thanks to your generosity as you help underwrite the cost of all bartenders,
