A Crossroads Community in Southeast Charlotte
A COMPELLING VISION
Meridian Place is a transformative community developing over a 20-acre site bordering Independence Expressway, Idlewild and Monroe Roads, and Conference
Drive.
The master plan blends 260 apartment homes and more than 100,000 square feet
of retail, restaurant, and office space.
CHANGING ROADS AND AREA DYNAMICS
Meridian Place is responding to the extension of the Independence Expressway and modifications to Idlewild Road
and Conference Drive associated with
this project.

PUBLIC SUPPORT AND ENGAGEMENT
The plan for Meridian Place started during development of the Independence Boulevard Small Area Plan. The community is consistent with the vision of this plan and
that of the Southeast Corridor Rapid Transit Plan as well as the effort to connect
Monroe and Charlotte.
Neighborhoods and public officials have been engaged and supportive of the community from its infancy and continue to be advocates.

AN ACCESSIBLE AND CONNECTED COMMUNITY HUB
Meridian Place is centrally located and accessible to South Charlotte, Uptown, Matthews, Indian Trail, Monroe and UNC-Charlotte.
Its vision is to fill a vital void in this section of Southeast Charlotte for dining, retail,
office, housing and other vital services.
APPEALING DEMOGRAPHICS
The trade area for Meridian Place is one that made up of households with moderate incomes, younger than the norm, and one that will benefit from the continuing
growth of Charlotte and changes in its area infrastructure.
Within a three mile radius of the Meridian Place site are 109,907 residents, in addition to the staff and students at East Mecklenburg High School across Monroe Road.
For this community, the closest grocers are at Cotswold, Galleria, and Independence
Square. A large gap exists in the service area that surrounding residents wish to see
filled.
