welcome to first palmetto bank
WELCOME TO FIRST PALMETTO BANK
W
e are excited to welcome the customers of South State Bank’s branches in Loris and
Little River to First Palmetto Bank. Although you may not be familiar with us yet, we look
forward to introducing you to our company and demonstrating the exceptional customer
service you should expect from a community bank. This guide contains information about
the transition and products and services you will find at First Palmetto, but first let me tell
you a little about our company.
Our bank was founded in 1904 in Camden, South Carolina, and we have grown to 21
locations, including four existing branches in Horry County. By focusing on customer
relationships and serving the needs of our communities for over 110 years, we have
established ourselves as one of the oldest and largest banks headquartered in South
Carolina. We are a strong, well-capitalized state-chartered institution, and you will enjoy
the same FDIC insurance coverage available to you and your accounts now.
We understand the customer has many options when placing trust with a banking partner,
and we emphasize individualized service to earn your business. Our bankers help set us
apart from the competition, and we are delighted to welcome the employees of the Loris
and Little River branches to our team. We believe you will value your experience with First
Palmetto as you continue to bank with the same associates you know already.
Please review the information in this guide and keep it for reference during the transition
period. We will work together to ensure a smooth transition, and look forward to meeting
you and serving your banking needs for years to come.
Sincerely,
Samuel R. Small, Jr.

OVERDRAFTS & OVERDRAFT PROTECTION
An “overdraft” occurs when you do not have enough money in your deposit account to cover a transaction on the account. Overdrafts
may be paid by us in one of two different ways:
1.
2.
1.
We have standard overdraft practices which are described below and come with all deposit accounts.
We offer an overdraft protection plan which is described below.
What are the standard overdraft practices that come with all First Palmetto deposit accounts?
As a standard overdraft practice, we will consider as a discretionary courtesy and not a right or obligation, approving your reasonable
overdrafts. This means we do not guarantee we will always authorize and pay any type of transaction. If we do not authorize and pay an
overdraft, your transaction will be declined. We are not obligated to pay any item presented for payment if your account does not
contain sufficient available funds (an “NSF Item”), and any discretionary payment (or other negotiation or processing) by First Palmetto
Bank of any NSF Item does not obligate First Palmetto Bank to pay any additional NSF Item or to provide prior notice of its decision to
refuse to pay any additional NSF Item. Failure to repay any negative balance including any and all fees and charges may result in the
closing of your deposit account.
We may authorize and pay overdrafts for the following types of transactions:


Checks and other transactions made using your checking account number
Automatic bill payments
We do not authorize or pay overdrafts for the following types of transactions:
 ATM transactions
 Everyday debit card transactions
The fees charged by First Palmetto Bank for overdrafts are as follows:


2.
We will charge you a fee of $34.00 for each time we pay or return an overdraft item.
We will charge you a fee of $3.00 for each day your account maintains a negative balance.
What overdraft protection plans are available at First Palmetto Bank?
First Palmetto Bank offers an overdraft protection line of credit, which is a loan that may advance funds to cover overdrafts. If you are
interested in applying for First Palmetto’s overdraft protection line of credit, please visit your local branch for further details. In addition
to First Palmetto’s overdraft protection line of credit, you may already be enrolled in one of South State Bank’s many overdraft
protection plans.
Unless you have been notified otherwise by us, First Palmetto Bank will honor South State Bank’s Overdraft Sweep and Money Market
Sweep overdraft protection plans, whereby one deposit account links to another deposit account to pay overdrafts. If your overdraft
sweep draws from an account not transferring from South State Bank, it will no longer be in effect. Unless you have been notified
otherwise by us, First Palmetto Bank will honor South State Bank’s Ready Reserve overdraft protection plan, whereby an unsecured line
of credit is advanced to pay overdrafts. First Palmetto Bank will not offer Automated Overdraft Privilege for any deposit accounts
transferring from South State Bank. This means that South State Bank deposit accounts transitioning to First Palmetto Bank that
previously had Automated Overdraft Privilege will be subject to First Palmetto’s standard overdraft practices described above unless a
different overdraft protection plan is in place.
Overdraft protection plans may be less expensive than standard overdraft practices. Please contact us if you have questions or require
more information regarding the differences between standard overdraft practices and overdraft protection plans.
Important!
First Palmetto will not offer Automated Overdraft Privilege for any deposit accounts transferring from South State Bank. This
means that deposit accounts transitioning to First Palmetto Bank that previously had Automated Overdraft Privilege will be
subject to First Palmetto’s standard overdraft practices as described above unless a different overdraft protection plan is in
place. Please visit your local branch to inquire about applying for First Palmetto’s overdraft protection plan if you are interested.
